I agree. I thought the e-reader was supposed to simulate a "book" reading experience with just a little more convenience, but essentially to emulate a real book, hence the paper like screen etc.

If you want it to do all the other stuff, then you need a tablet of some kind and the Kobo App or the new Kobo Vox.

BTW, I loved all my Palm PDA's. The things I miss the most on my iPhone are the portable keyboard that docked with the Palm and the ability to print via the infrared port to virtually any printer with the IR to Parallel printer port adapter. I used that daily! iPhone printing is virtually useless. I read many many books on my PDA's long before e-readers appeared. But now that the Kobo Touch's basic functions have settled down with each upgrade, I wouldn't give it up.

I also bought this device as strictly an electronic "book." I wish there was a button called "Do not disturb," or something else appropriate, which can turn everything off except my ability to read without being disturbed.

I bought the kobo so that I could port my favorite fanfic to a device I could easily read in bed. I wanted something that could easily be read (in one hand) on the bus for my commute. I wanted a device which would eliminate my buying paperback novels, and eliminate my need for shelf-space. I wanted to stop reading on an LCD screen and perhaps save myself from going blind.

I just wanted a device to easily read on. There are so many other devices (phones, tablets, etc.) to do all those other things. Someone please make it easier to read on my e-reader.

I've the 1.9.16 firmware version.
I would like something more usable for footnotes links. In epubs , footnotes links are often "small", so a single tap on screen is really difficult to do, this tap is generally interpreted as a "turning page " command.

Perhaps it will be possible to have something like "auto annotations page" generated for links in epub while rendering the document and accessible through the annotations menu ?

But other ideas to facilitate footnotes access are welcome !!

I think if you make the font bigger the end note links will get bigger too.

But it is such a hassle to keep changing font sizes each time I want to read a Discworld footnote. I second the request for better footnote management! Also, I find it odd that the same epub file has number footnotes on the B&N Nook but has asterisks on the Kobo Touch. )

I'm reading a book that has numbered endnotes, maybe your book is different? I don't make the font bigger I just press for a little longer than a page turn.

Traversing ANY links is problematic for me. This includes an inline table of contents.

I tried to traverse a footnote yesterday and it is painful. Sometimes it turned the page, sometimes it did nothing, sometimes it did nothing and on the next tap went to the page after or before the end note and I couldn't get back.

I suggest bookmarking before attempting to traverse any links.

I was having problems getting touches recognised at bottom of page because sand. Put Kobo Touch in standby. Then held Kobo with screen parallel to floor while brushing off sand from screen with small brush. Problem solved.

Please add a go to page # menu option. I'm reading a large ePub (2000 pages), and the slider is too inaccurate.

It's nearly impossible to hit a specific page with the slider.

I found it funny that the Kobo Wifi (with the big button) had that goto page number option, but the touch didn't.

function to alleviate the SD card problems

A simple function that would help minimise the effect of the SD card problems that some are experiencing would be to support moving books between the internal memory and the sd-card in the unit.
In the library for example, an icon indicating if the book is found on the memory card or in the internal memory could be present. touch it and the unit asks if the book should be moved to the other storage location.

This would allow books to be swapped in and out of the memory card hence
sidestepping the issue of constant sd card access that appears to cause problems.

there are possibly some reasons why it is not wanted.

I would also absolutely like the option to move / copy files between SD-card and internal memory; should not be a problem to implement and makes much sense in many situations and settings...
