I'm guessing you are young. Apple has been a sputtering company for a generation. Great ideas with no market. Jobs marketed Xerox magic until the company outgrew his abilities then Skully came in to inflict discipline then Jobs was fired then the company floundered then Jobs returned with another company's ideas (Next/Beos) then Apple floundered some more then Gates bailed out Apple to ward off the antitrust lawyers and Apple sold some MP3 players and a tablet.

That is not a business plan. Jobs is dead and Apple will follow.

Bezos sounds a lot like Jobs. He has the passion and the vision. The difference is that his INSANE products are married to a SANE bussiness plan.

It is those lemmings. They keep jumping off the cliff, and throwing their money to Apple. It can't keep going on, but it does.

I saw that. Crazy. Good for them. It doesn't change reality. You cannot look at a company that sells commodity goods at twice what others charge and think that's a good investment.

That said, investments is not what I was talking about. Apple has funded its future with profits from good products sold to price insensitive customers in an environment without competition. In Amazon, Apple has a challenger. If they compete by cutting prices, where does the money for the next insane product come from?

Plus I am pretty sure the new fire similiar to the old fire won't have a big profit margin. Would not be surprised if they actually sold it without profit or even at a loss. What does apple have? iBooks? Give me a break.

Amen! As a consumer, I'd like nothing better than a $300 iPad. I'm rooting for Microsoft too. In the race to the bottom, Apple is vulnerable.

Somehow related, but if that's true, that means the end of the Kindle DXG. A real shame, because it was a very nice reader that got forgotten by Amazon.

It looks like companies are more interested on tablets and LCD screen devices than 9 or 10 inches eink readers.

I don't think it got forgotten. There might just be a lack of new better screens. The new 300 dpi triton eink screen in a new DX would be nice. But please without the stupid color layer.

I am convinced that leaner times are ahead for Apple. Even their market share for tablets is down to 52%. Dropping even faster than I expected.

The best I could come up with is this chart. iTunes sales amounted to 4% of their revenue during the last quarter. That amounts to $1.85 billion. Not to shabby in my opinion.
