The only time I was in Paris was mid June 1989 and it was miserably hot. I ended up with heat rash on my lower legs from the heat reflecting off the sidewalks. Other than the heat rash I had a wonderful time and want to go back. DH and I won a trip to Le Mans (the big race) and added on to the trip since we were already in France. Spent some time in Nice and Paris. Wish we could've stayed longer and seen more. BTW it's supposed to be 98F (37C) here today with humidity that slaps you in the face like a wet blanket. yes well paris has never been known for it's good weather (it's a lucky thing it has other qualities to recommend it...), but the climate has seemed to degenerate seriously in the past few years. it seems now we have only 2 choices, for about 90% of the year : cold overcast rainy weather (most common by far) interspersed with one or two week stretches of unrelenting, suffocating heat (nature's way of limiting over-population, apparently). this year, we have about a week and a half of absolutely brilliant weather in early may, like a perfect month of july, then the temperature plummetted and i haven't seen a speck of blue sky in a month. today there's actually a bit of sun, it would seem, but of course i have to stay inside and get some work done (which reminds me i should get the hell out of this forum...). i swear, if we go from 15° (far too cold) to 35° (too hot !!) with no transition whatsoever, as has become the norm lately, i think i'll go drown myself.

It got to just over 100F here (also in northern Virginia) with high, high humidity. Everybody looked like drowned rats, even the squirrels. (yes, that is a recycled joke) I spent the whole day without anyone speaking French (unlike Paris) so it was a good day. |
