OK, Sigil, has put its own logo icon on every .txt file on my computer. The app of choice remains WordPad, but the Sigil logo still shows up. Not if .txt is set to NotePad, just if it's WordPad.

It started out setting itself up to be the handler of choice for both .txt and html files, but I stopped that crap immediately. 1. How did they do that with the logo? I'm assuming they've hidden an icon deep in a WordPad file somewhere. 2. How do I undo it? This is absolutely and totally unacceptable behavior for any app of any kind. Must be a bunch of kids trying to act like M$. |

I suspect you have a Windows problem, rather than a Sigil problem. The associations got set to Sigil and you set it back, but the icon it calls up has not changed. You might try right clicking on the file and select properties to see if you can set the icon back that way. You can also try using default programs in Vista or later.

Nope on who wrote it. It was a PhD graduate student, Valloric, who was good enough to get hired by Google, I think. Now it is John Schember took over from Valloric who apparently has a day job that isn't programming, but he has moved the project forward very well. Not a bunch of kids. |

Also, it makes no sense to associate WordPad with epub files... since WordPad can't open a zip file (which is what an epub is). Quote:

IIRC Uninstalling Sigil will revert Windows to the previous handlers., Then you can re install, removing the ticks for those file types. |
