Hello.!I have one PRS-T1 and I like using SW provided by Kindle (also because it is the only way I have to transfer my books I have bought from AMazon's Kindle store to my device!).As indicated in the forum the newest Kindle's SW version is "too fat" for the available internal memory of PRS-T1. As I do not have Linux PC and I am not practical to resize the internal disk space partition, waiting the new rooting package meantime I used this workaround: I have removed some application and downloaded a lighter and older version of Kindle SW this one: Kindle_v3.2.0.35. It works fine. Now here is my issues 1)I have an issue with highlights. When I highlight something I do not see anything (even if the highlight is correctly stored). This because under the menu option I have choosen in display option "WHITE". I should choose "SEPIA" in order to see the highlight. But SEPIA it is not really good to read a inc screen (too dark!). Does anybody know if this is because the Kindle_v3.2.0.35 version is too old and maybe the newer Kindle's version solve this? 2) To switch page I cannot use the right/left button on the bottom of PRS-T1, but only touching the screen. In the main Kindle menu there is an option called "switch page by using volume buttons". I set it on but the problem remains. ANy suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

You would have to remap the page turn buttons to volume buttons. Check out this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=163458

Thank you. I have read the thread Iand I am little bit confused. Let me see if I have understood. To be sure Kindle SW switch page right and left with the right and left button of Sony I need to change /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl and add these two lines.key 105 DPAD_UP key 106 DPAD_DOWN OR these key 105 SPACE SHIFT key 106 SPACE I am not familiar with Linux so I use root explorer which tell me obviously this file is write protected... ![]() I read that I have to boot into the recovery mode, log into the serial terminal, mount /dev/mmcblk2p10 on /tmp/system, go to /tmp/system/usr/keylayout directory, and edit this file is there simpler way? ![]() Thanks! |

I really don't know that much about hacking myself, I had just seen that thread. You'll have to ask someone smarter.

Finally I managed to enter with the root explorer in R/O and edit this file with the editor of Android (always working in my sony) So I edited the file /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl here is the original KEY 28 DPAD_CENTER KEY 103 DPAD_UP KEY 126 DPAD_RIGHT KEY 108 DPAD_DOWN KEY 125 DPAD_LEFT KEY 102 HOME KEY 357 MENU KEY 158 BACK KEY 114 VOLUME_DOWN KEY 115 VOLUME_UP I changed the file as suggested in the post you told me KEY 28 DPAD_CENTER KEY 103 DPAD_UP KEY 126 DPAD_RIGHT KEY 108 DPAD_DOWN KEY 125 DPAD_LEFT KEY 102 HOME KEY 357 MENU KEY 158 BACK KEY 106 VOLUME_DOWN KEY 105 VOLUME_UP and it works! thanks a lotNaturally now if I open the CoolReader of SOny and I press the change page button it change the VOLUME.... so the point is that OR I use the Kindle reader OR the Cool Reader of Sony. If I arrive to solve the issue of highlighting (which with the background display color WHITE is INVISIBLE) I will definitively always use the kindle reader... just a final step and it is perfect. Thansk a lot for your help so far!

does it work immediately after modifying, or does it need a reboot of the device?
