There is little doubt that over the decades I have been pollinated by American cultural influences. When I went to Japan to study, many eons ago, I discovered just how enormous that influence is through literature, movies, eating habits.

Many Europeans try to fight it, usually those that are the most influenced.

I watch House MD, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Glee and Sons of Anarchy. I prefer Heinz Catsup, Whoppers and Mars Bars. I read Dave Barry for laughs, Brad Thor and Vince Flynn for action and almost everything non-fiction is by Americans. Most of my software comes from US companies. The one thing I'm capable of resisiting is Budweiser, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Schlitz.

Maybe off topic, but among the books I enjoy most are those written about other cultures. I am not talking travelogues or educational material, mainly fiction the setting being in Asia or Europe or Africa etc.
Sometimes I accidentally learn something.

It was meant as a joke. It does rain a fair amount, especially since it doesn't snow as much as it used to. The average around where I live is something like 75 cm, an hour by car and you get upwards of 180 cm.
Seattle is famous for its precipitation. That was the basis for my "joke".

The reality is that Seattle only receives around 94cm, which is less rain than cities like New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Baltimore. I answered thinking you were aware of that. I believe the perception comes from that fact that we're almost in a constant state of drizzle during the winter.
