Anyway, it's not ideal but it's still way, way better than what it was before!

EDIT: well it seems I uncovered the plot/found the gremlin -- when i was inserting em/en dashes (Alt+0151/0150), it was inserting some kind of hidden character (something like a blankspace). It just means going through and removing it via S/R. Again thanks guys for slogging it out with me.
Glad to see you finally figured it out. I assume with the hidden character removed it's ok now?

If I then open another file and do the global find/replace again, it will finally find the first missed occurences. It is a strange issue that happens regularly but not all the time, I don't know how to replicate it exactly, and I'm not that sure what I'm trying to explain is very clear.

Has anyone encountered this problem? It's quite annoying because some time I think I have fixed all the non-breaking spaces and things like that and I start reading the book and find that Sigil has not replaced all occurences...

Oh, and I had the same problem with 0.4.2 so maybe this is not the good place to post this...

Thanks in advance for any help,
Well, the problem occurs again once in a while even when I place the cursor right at the start of a file. See image 1, where I just clicked the "count" button, and Sigil tells me 0 match found — when we explicitly see a couple of matches right there...

And then — image 2 —, I open another file, press again the count button, and it finds 21 matches of the searched string...

Once it found the matches in the second file, I can go back to the original file and if I press "count" again it will find them correctly.

Any idea what's going on?

It sounds like the tab is not being associated with the find and replace widget. I would like to confirm that you are in code view and not split view?

Also, counting ignores the cursor placement. it doesn't matter where it is because it always starts counting at the beginning of the file.

Thanks for the reply. I am indeed in code view. It always happens in code view.

I began to put cursor always at the start of a file before searching/counting after reading this comment. Just in case.

And while we're at it, thanks a lot for all the work you do on Sigil—much appreciated!

Edit: Also this happened once in a while with 0.4.2, but I can't remember it happening with the previous versions.

This has happened to me on a couple of occasions. I'll copy a piece of data, in code view, and paste it into the S&R window. When I click "count" i get a zero count. I can repeat this on different pieces of data with the same results.

If I close Sigil and return to the same data string everything is OK and I can keep working until,it happens again. I have been trying to see what may be triggering this but I'm just doing normal stuff.

If I find a pattern, I"ll get back.

I just had S&R in CV to find an entity coded:
Switched to BV, copied the character, switched back to CV pasted into the Find term

Annoying WYSInotWYG, always

At least one situation seems to be if you add some text in code view then try to do a Count of something, it won't include the new text in the count. Need to verify this, but easily corrected if this is the case, but it might be different than what you're seeing.

The next time it happens I'll try a string that I know is present in multiple files in the document.

Hello,
i've some questions refering to Sigil 0.5.0
- wildcard search is gone, why (i'm missing it) ?
- translating the foldernames in the book-browser is imo not a good idea, since <img src="../Bilder/img0.jpg" /> will not work. Is there a simple way to turn these few translation back ?

You need to escape REGEX special chars
Code:
 [ ] .+*( )$?|
Code:
<img src="\.\./\[I\]Bilder\[/I\]/img\d+.jpg" />
Why is a file name Italicized ??

Thank you for your good work on Sigil.
Would it be possible to have option to change the Sigil's language from the menu? That would be much easier than deleting language files. No offense but I find your suggestion "Or change your OS language to English" really ridiculous.

Why take the time and effort to add in that feature, when the number of people who use it would most likely be able to be counted on one hand.

Sometimes you cannot change the OS language, and it was not installed by yourself. Just a week ago I was in Sweden, using a Windows computer in Swedish... If I had had to stay there longer and if I could have installed programs there, I would have appreciated if they allowed to chose the language independently of the OS.

John, in all fairness. My OS is in English, but my menu's in Sigil are dutch. So switching the OS language will not always solve the this.
