If you’re not standing, please do so and then jump up and down a few times. I need blood pumping into that colossal labyrinth of creative genius you’re carrying around in your skull all the time. This will be fun, easy, and rewarding for everyone involved.
Flash-Fiction. In a comment below please bust out a quick story in about 150 words. Here are two things you must include. 1) Popcorn 2) Stitch Try to make use of as much improvisation as possible. Just hit reply and then start typing. I appreciate your involvement and will go first. “The movie was enthralling but the decision to leave the soothing comfort and safety of his bed at home was beginning to sting and feel like a terribly bad idea. She was cute, David had to admit that much, and he had not had any action in awhile. So, the fact that she sounded like a horse chomping down on her popcorn clothed in shadow was a small thing to look past if it meant he got to kiss her at the end of the night. Angela looked amazing in her nurse outfit, that was what had prompted him to politely ask her out as she was changing his bandages. Whenever she was in the room across the hall, despite the pain his stitches caused him, he would turn over onto his wounds to watch her. She was like this movie at the time, full of potential but easy to resist.” Cheers --Damien Last edited by Dr. Drib; 01-26-2012 at 10:42 AM. |

Here you go:
She sat in her one room apt. above the theater knitting a sweater. The smell of fresh popcorn wafted in the window on the afternoon breeze along with the sounds of laughing children. She loved saturday matinee's with their deluge of children eager for the magic show of a darkened screening room. Memory led her back to when she had taken Joseph and Susan to such events. She dropped a stitch. It had cost her under $1.00 for admission for the three of them plus popcorn and soda. Such times were long gone now. Sue was a nurse in Boston and Joseph, Joseph had died in a war half way round the world. She dropped a stitch. Time was short. Joseph would be home from school soon. She dropped a stich. Outside the sun slowly set. She dropped a stitch. The sweater would never be finished. She'd dropped a stitch. Last edited by crich70; 01-21-2012 at 09:26 PM. Reason: typo in a sentence. |

His mother used to tell him, "A stitch in time saves nine."
If only he had listened. Had he filled his gas tank yesterday, he wouldn't have run out of gas. Had he not run out of gas, he wouldn't have been walking when it started to rain. Had he not been caught in the rain, he wouldn't have ducked into the mall. Had he not been in the mall, he wouldn't have bought a ticket to see the American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. And, that's how he got food poisoning from spoiled butter on the popcorn. |

Popcorn? You want me to eat popcorn with these teeth said Sally Goldenberg, a hefty ninety year old widow.
Relax, Homer, her seventy eight year old toyboy replied, I am making nachos as well. Nachos she shrieked, you know I can't eat nachos, are you trying to starve me to death? Nachos give me heartburn. Just then the doorbell rang and a few minutes later, Homer appeared with a large pizza box and a patient smile. Sally, who outweighed him by a good three hundred pounds, snatched the box from his hands and gobbled down three slices without stopping. Only as her throat constricted did she notice the taste of shrimp to which she had a fatal allergy. As Sally lay gasping her last breaths on the floor, Homer mused to himself, I wonder if the undertaker can be bribed to stitch up her mouth for the funeral.
