One of the challenge of forums is the lack of any of the non-written/verbal parts of communication. Something that was meant as positive advice can come off feeling negative at times. Also, when you have many people with different first languages some of the subtlety can get lost between the chair and the keyboard. Don't sweat it and keep posting. The search function can be a big help, but it can also be a challenge if you don't know the best keywords to use. Never hesitate to post. You'll get a feel for what to search and what to post over time.

I typically read here way more than I post just due to time constraints, but I have found the people who frequent this board to be very helpful and accommodating. Even the occasional disagreement is reconciled positively. Maybe the nature of the topic tends to bring a more mature audience, but it is exponentially more friendly than most internet forums. Welcome and enjoy. I hope you will continue posting.

Mr. Goodbar is absolutely right. You post all you want. There are plenty of good-natured members here and someone will always be pleased to point you in the right direction.

And do not worry about the number of posts. To most, members, it's a thing of pride how many posts you have. In fact, it annoys me that damn zelda_pinwheel has more posts than me even though she joined the forum after I did. Doesn't help her's are more interesting and informative than mine either. Shoot.

Better avatar too but that's a whole other story.

Enjoy the forum and post away!

Hijacking the thread...

Got mine today!!!

I'm very happy - I only ordered it on Sunday. That extra $5 for expedited shipping was well spent.

I'm trying to will it to charge faster, while occupying myself deciding which 100 free classics to pick.

I agree. I don't take remarks by other personally. Sometimes, my posts don't come the way I intended it to be. It is hard to convey thoughts when you can only type so fast.

Overall, this is a good/informative forum to be. In other nastier forums, I don't bother visiting them further

You know, I think it did. It fully charged in less than two hours via the USB. I must have magical Sony powers.

I love it. So tiny. Words so clear. A little heavier than I was expecting, but not that heavy.

Now my roommates want one.

magical sony powers, that's going to come in handy. you should convince your roommates to each get a different brand, then you would have *all* the different ones to play with

maybe it's time to update your profile, on the left there, where it says "device : None "

So far? Only about five. I had a final today, a paper due tomorrow, and another final on Saturday, so I'm trying really, really hard not to play with it. Even though it keeps staring at me.

I loaded a couple of the 100 classics I got from Sony and then two Lit ones I bought at Books on Board and then I converted to see if they worked...and they did. They even have the cover art.

Best graduation gift to myself ever.

And so it begins... Oh that's one thing this group forgot to mention. These eReaders(generic term) are extremely addictive.

Nice! See the conversion wasn't so bad. Once you get little more comfortable with Calibre your going to find yourself ditching the SONY classics and getting them form feedbooks/manybooks.net so you can format them they way you like. ... Okay maybe that was just me.

Congrats on the shiny new 505. It'll be attached to you from now on. And for content, you can have a look at the E-Books section here and find lots of well made FREE eBooks for you to enjoy reading.
