Peet's Russian Caravan this afternoon. Finally making some concrete progress on this article that is overdue. Should have it done tonight, and then it will be time for some serious single malt. Maybe even some Lagavulin.

But first, must focus and bear down. So gone for the rest of the day.

Sparkling orangeade to wash down a couple of paracetamol. It seems I have a slightly frozen shoulder. With gentle exercise it might get better in six months or so. Sigh.

Love is a rose but you better not pick it
Only grows when it's on the vine
Handful of thorns and you'll know you've missed it
Lose your love when you say the word mine

I wanna see what's never been seen
I wanna live that age-old dream
Come on boy let's go together
Let's take the best right now

Love is a rose but you better not pick it
Only grows when it's on the vine
Handful of thorns and you'll know you've missed it
Lose your love when you say the word mine

Good morning, everyone! Happy Friday! Steam is rising out of my cup of Keemun tea today. -2° outside but the snow is holding off. I expected to wake up to a white world outside, but the streets are still dry enough for riding.

Then we had a BBQ at one of my classmates apartments and put a sign on the door that for the day this was American territory and American law was enforced. Our Italain friends were baffeled that they were carded and had to get someone 21 years old to get their booze. They enjoyed the cheeseburgers and other food though.
I had to introduce my wife to the concept of an 'American' BBQ. In Japan, no hamburgers or hotdogs. Only beef and chicken, and all the meat is sliced thin into bite-sized pieces before it goes on the grill along side of strips of green pepper, and 2" sections of corn on the cob! They will also grill 'yaki-onigiri,' flattened rice balls painted with soy sauce. Gotta have rice with every meal, right?

Sounds more sane to me than making some absurd comment about the card as you study it; "Hmmm..... and your name is Yoshidia-san? Very interesting! And this is your business? My, my!" But this is done every time, and I have a hard time not laughing out loud. "No, I had the cards printed up with somebody else's name just to fool people..." It's so tempting....

It's more that I'm not much of a drinker. I like the taste, but not the results.

We'll hope for a faster recovery for you. They call it '50's Shoulder' here, and believe that most older people will suffer from it. I see old folks at the health club rubbing their shoulders, trying to loosen them up, looking like they are in a lot of pain. It's a shame that modern medicine can't come up with some sort of "joint grease." Just inject the stuff into the joint cavity and everything moves easily once again.

Think I'll have another cup of Keemun. I'm going to have to re-visit the little Chinese import shop pretty soon and restock. Last time I bought several packages of Keemun... all they had in stock... but that was several months ago. At the rate I drink it, to goes quickly. I really wonder who the distributor is? It would be nice to be able to recognize a brand. The shop repackages the tea from a large tinned box.

After this week at work I need a drink or 20. So everyone feel free to have one for me and tell me how out of it I was.

We had three quick turn tasks, between 12-24 hours to respond, and a lead who does not want to be a lead and does whatever the person she chooses to lean on tells her and rarely stands up for her team. Which means that we redid searches on multiple occassions, finding the exact same results, because she wouldn't tell her supervisor "They already did that. Maybe we should ask them how they did it to better understand what results they got and go from there." And then to find out that the work that we had done was right and that the work that they wanted us to do we couldn't because we do not pay for access to those websites.

There are days I enjoy my work and then there are days I want to throttle my boss. Half the time she ignores my group, we don't do the things she is interested in so she leaves us alone to work with the team that does the stuff that she likes. Then she gets involved with my team, knowing nothing about our area, wonders why we can't produce the same products as the other team (totally different types of work and information available), does not believe us when we say that we have less info then they do for X, Y, and Z reasons, and then eventually stands over my shoulder while I redo the same work that we have already completed and goes "I didn't realize that there was so little information."

Rinse and repeat once a month.

It is most frustrating.

It is indeed!

Today:
Morning fresh squeezed OJ and Peet's Major Dickason's coffee. Then some Peet's Scottish Breakfast (India blacks plus lapsang souchong). Then in the afternoon, some Lion Mountain Keemun.

Current article finished and out for review! . So, spent the afternoon , and drinking Keemun. Now, time for some more malt.

Rooibus, nice. I rediscovered a long-lost stash of it the other day and enjoyed a cup.

What's currently in my cup? Water.
