My M92 arrived yesterday. It's my first ereader, and at the moment all I can say is: I love it!

So? That is the normal development: 903: disappointment - read tests: buy M92 : disappointment, wait a little bit, new test : "Hanvon 920, I love it" - next step : buy Hanvon 920 ...

FYI, some people put their planned/future/ordered but not yet recieved devices in that category. I think it's obvious mSSM wanted to get a big Pocketbook, but changed mind and got a M92...

it's just a discrepancy what I am pointing out above, nothing else. He is saying it is his first ereader... but he seems to have had a Pocket Book before... all the other things like disappointment or favouring one or the other ereader are not the point in my post

Got mine yesterday from Booxtor but only had 15 minutes to have a look at it since I'm stuck at work 12 hours a day atm but from what I glimpsed it looks lovely. The screen is brilliant (at least compared to my old irex) and I managed to open a few books from the micro SD card from my old irex (through a SD card adapter) and page turns are quick and fbreader is already installed for you. Brilliant.

The only gripe I have is that the stylus is tiny. I'd rather have something more pen-like, like the irex one (which unfortunately doesn't work with boox).

Hi,

I've got mine also yesterday from ereader-store.de and until now I am very content.
Regarding the stylus: It really is a shame that it is so tiny!

I searched on the internet on some information on which pen could be used to replace the stylus. However, there is not much information to be found :|
Some user asked Booxtor for a replacement.
@Booxtor: Do you maybe have more information?

However, what might (!) be promising is this:
http://www.ebookreaderstore.de/entou...s-1-stuck.html
There it states that this pen also works for the onyx (but not which model..). I know, this pen looks like the"toothpick" we have, so its no improvement. But it also states that it'll work for the entourage edge (which also has wacom input).
In the thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?t=136108& you find some hints regarding which pens will work and which won't. Interestingly, the experiences regarding the edge and the m90/m92 are similar: normal wacom penabled pens will not work. In the above linked thread, however this motion digitizer is mentioned to work: https://store.motioncomputing.com/TA...elID=3&TabID=1

It might be a longshot, but I guess that this should then work for the m90/m92, too. As those pens seem to be rare in europe (prices of 60 euros) I certainly won't buy one. But maybe someone has such a pen lying around or is willing to spend 35$ to test it out?

On the other hand I've found a work around that actually might do it for me: I noticed that the stylus diameter is exactly as large of some ball pens with a larger refill. I just split open the end open of some cheap gift ballpoint pen and then stuck my stylus in there. Since I only wanted to check the feasibility it looks quite ugly, but the stylus actually is fits quite well and stays in place after taping it and putting the end-cap back on. Bottomline: cheap, not beautful, but the "writing" experience is MUCH better. Its just like a real pen (if you ignore the input delay). I'll try some more professional ways if I find the time to do so: The only reason thy the stylus does not fit is because of its thickening at the end. Removing this, you probably would not even have to break the end of the ballpen open and you'd only need to somehow manipulate the front ;-)

I am in contact with Onyx regarding the Stylus alternatives.
M92 is using Hanvon touch screen and stylus. M90 - is Waltop system and is not compatible with M92.
After the New Year holidays (Chinese New Year) I will get more information and offer some alternative.
Wholesale price of the current stylus is around 20 EUR and we have bought some replacement pens (for quick replacements if some one lost stylus) , but in my opinion it is too expensive, this is why we don't offer it as accessories and look forward to find some more favorable conditions.

Great to know! 20 Euros indeed is a (bad) joke. Just to clarify things, since it (e.g. on your shop) states "Wacom Magnetic Touch Stylus": Boox m90/m92 in fact does not use real wacom styli / displays? Or do waltop and hanvon produce products licensed by wacom?

I fixed my ownership status just for you guys.

I sure can do that! After having used the device for a couple of days (a little .epub here, a little .djvu and .pdf here):
Build quality is superb. I have not yet owned an ebook-reader, but I am a sucker for well-manufactured electronics (owning a Thinkpad, using mechanical keyboards only). I was especially pleased to find a nice leather cover with the device.

After days of use my battery is down from about 91% to 78% (I have not yet charged the device after unpacking it).

I am satisfied with the quality and the speed of rendering new pages. I was afraid I could get annoyed with the time it took ereaders to switch to a new state, but I am actually not. Text, even in .djvu files based on scanned books, is crisp and of high quality.
I have mainly read .epub novels and news downloaded via RSS using Calibre, and those worked reasonably well.

The browser certainly needs to be worked on. Especially pages using JavaScript or having images which are changing constantly (such as, funnily, the Onyx homepage bookmarked into the browser). There is no option to disable JavaScript or dynamic content, which often seems to clog up the browser making it unresponsive (alas, I can still just quit the browser and go back to reading, so that's okay). Also, on some web pages I could not follow links, and I do not understand why. I am aware that an ereader is not really to be used for Internet browsing, but the current state of the software makes it quite useless.

The scribble function is a nice gimmick, but I would prefer real pen and paper. I think the device is simply too small for anything but taking basic notes. Since I am a Physics student I need to be able to write down formulae, which can get pretty detailed and delicate. I don't see myself doing this with that device. Also, the calibration seems a bit off, but I haven't yet used the calibration software somebody posted in this forum.

All in all, I am very satisfied with the device so far. It does the job with things it is meant to do, with others it seems to be yet be mature enough.

I still have to see what it is like to actually work with the device, reading papers, textbooks and so on on a daily basis. Having opened one book in DinA4 format, I feeled like I could read it just fine. But I see how Pocketbook's column feature could come in handy.

Booxtor, how long do you think the delivery would take? I chose Hermes and last info is from Friday: "Parcel processed at HUB (30,0,9)".
