Yes. Also, what downloads for any Kindle or app other than an iThing is almost always significantly smaller in size (IME), as the audio/video content is stripped from the download. I've downloaded for the eInk Kindle several times in the past and compared the file sizes to both the one stored on the iPad and the description and that seems to hold true for all the Kindle A/V Editions.

You have to have a registered Kindle address in Australia.... (in the US store)

First, thank you for the link to the Kindle Deal of the Day, I hadn't known about that but now I use your referral link to check it out every day (and have bought one book that way already).

Secondly, back to the Australian/US/Canadian thing, do I understand you correctly that I need to create a second account then, with an Australian address? And that I can do that through the Canadian site?

They don't sell eBooks through the Canadian site, you'd need to do it through the US site. I'm not sure if they do any kind of IP check or if you'd need an Aussie credit card to setup an AU address or not.

It might not be as complicated as that I recently got a US freebie by changing my country under mange my kindle to US and adding a US address to my account, worth a try

Yeah, you'll have to add an Australian address in manage your addresses, then change your country to that one to buy it.

Seems to be all you need if buying on the US/International site.

With some help (thanks Melmac!) I was able to add the Austrlian address, but where do you subsequently change your country? I haven't found that setting anywhere yet.

Never mind, I finally figured it out. And what do you know, weeks later it's still available for $0, and readable (without enhance A/V content) online.

Under 'Manage Your Kindle' section

There is a country link on the left hand side navigator bar - where it lists books, magazines, etc. - it is at the bottom of the 'Your Kindle account' box (which is below Your Kindle Library) and just above 'Kindle Support'

Have any of you gotten called on changing your country like this by Amazon? I thought folks were getting emails from Amazon about this when they did it that way?

Not that I have heard, no.

It is quite likely, at least in the Australian case that Amazon is highly displeased with publisher price raising of 100% and 65% etc. and hence will not give a rat's arse about it.

Same goes for price rises in general too, perhaps.

So they are probably less likely to waste money on this sort of area than they were in the past, I would think. Particularly with more and more to do.

Cool. I might try this to get this book then, even though I have the regular version I wouldn't mind checking out the enhanced part just for curiosities sake.
