Nobody feels any painTonight as I stand inside the rain Ev'rybody knows That Baby's got new clothes But lately I see her ribbons and her bows Have fallen from her curls. She takes just like a woman, yes, she does She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman But she breaks just like a little girl. ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZFpSYYZuMI ) Dylan... perhaps the single most influential force in music history... Nothing short of 'amazing.' Good morning, everyone. No bout adout it, it's gonna snow today. NOT a good day for a bike ride! Twining's "Prince of Wales" tea in my cup and a bowl of muesli to start the day... I need to go into Osaka to a large computer shop and get some more business card printer paper. Having business cards printed in Japan is violently expensive... about $1 per card! (There is an entire ritual involved in the exchange of business cards in Japan, very different from Western usages.) With Bombay Sapphire, I drink it in a tall glass over a lot of ice, stirred. I don't want to mask its medicinal benefits... I never drink two glasses. One is my limit, but it's usually a double, and I make it last most of the evening.Stitchawl |

I'm cooking an 'ethnic' dinner for my wife tonight; Meatloaf with Garlic Mashed Potatoes! She's never had meatloaf before. In honor of such unusual foods, we are drinking .... Club soda!

Oh yes...
![]() Plus, the business card needs to have the person's 'position' clearly stated too, so each can know which one needs to bow lower to the other... A middle manager must bow more deeply when meeting an upper level manager, and how else can one tell? Or an upper level manager from Yoshi Garbage Haulers needs to bow more deeply when meeting an upper level manager from Sony, etc. It really is a very important tool for proper Japanese conduct. You will NEVER see a tray full of personal business cards on the corner of a person's desk as we often see in the West. And in keeping with this... I'm going to treat myself to a glass of sake tonight! Stitchawl |

(giggle) I love the world. Microwaves with a sake button, that is awesome.
When I was studying in Milan I had my Mom send over a couple of giant jars of peanut butter with a friend who was visiting. My Italian roommates were shocked that I made PB&J sandwiches. I had one run to my Italian speaking American roommate and let her know that I was going to make myself sick eating that combo. I made them peanut butter cookies which they were highly worried about but gamely tried. They liked them though. Then we had a BBQ at one of my classmates apartments and put a sign on the door that for the day this was American territory and American law was enforced. Our Italain friends were baffeled that they were carded and had to get someone 21 years old to get their booze. They enjoyed the cheeseburgers and other food though. |
