Almost for sure i reckon some people involved in Amazon are reading my post on the 1067 views,
i just offer my thoughts to try to improve the products. That an ereader is a cool thing is out of discussion i give value to people that buy them more than other categories of people.

I repeat the limit on the dictionaries from my not really ingenuous business point of view does not permit to amazon to increase the market quote of final users

This is true,but it doesn't quite work.Regardless of what is your default dictionary,if the books are in a collection,the search will be always made in the English dictionary.This is true even if you set the system language to one of the other supported languages.I consider this to be a serious bug in the firmware,and I doubt that it will be ever fixed.

Have you reported this bug to Amazon? I wouldn't give up hope of it being fixed - Amazon are generally pretty responsive when it comes to fixing genuine bugs.

Is this on the K4? Because I've a German dictionary on my K3, and as long as the ebook has the proper language metadata, the dictionary lookups go to the correct dictionary.

On my K3, the Kindle automatically picks the correct dictionary, based on the language code in the book even if the book is in a collection. Even though there are some differences between the K3 and K4 firmwares it's most likely that your problem is caused by incorrect language codes in the ebook or the dictionary. The system language shouldn't affect dictionary selection.

Download the Java Metadata editor and check the language of the ebook and the dictionary input language. If the dictionary input language and the ebook language are identical and the language is English, French, Italian German, Spanish or Portuguese (or another Latin-alphabet based, supported language), the Kindle should select the correct dictionary and only display English entries if no matches are found in the other dictionaries.

If that's not the case, you may want to file a bug report with Amazon.

Not necessarily. The French dictionary lookup bug with French words prefixed by a single letter and an apostrophe has been in the software and firmware for a couple of years and is not likely to be fixed unless Amazon's French Kindle owners complain about it.
