6.2.2 Update? - Page 6

Make sure to uninstall Go! or anything like it before updating. I updated when 6.2.2 came out everything seems to go fine and I've used it since then without restarting just in sleep mode. Today when I went to restart my Fire it no longer works. Bad update? Go! the cause? I guess I'll never know. I do know from now I'll stick to leaving the UI of the Fire alone!

How did you recover?

I didn't. Amazon is sending a replacement. I tried everything I know to do. It just flashes the logo over and over and over.

Boot looping.

There's a way to recover from that, but if your computer isn't already configured for ADB it will take a bit of work. When the KF was first released, I had a near-brick experience with my KF (an incorrect version of Go Launcher). I managed to recover.... since then, I've been cautioning KF owners to carefully consider the potential dangers of choosing an alternative launcher.

Unfortunately I don't think the current tools work the new firmware. I installed the drivers and downloaded KFU for 6.2.2 and it sees the device but can't do anything to it. I get permission denied type messages. I read on XDA forum that's if it's not rooted before you brick it with 6.2.2 then it wont work.

However any advice or suggestions are greatly welcome. I've never played with any of these tools. I don't know what I am doing really.

So, no Go! -- are we recommending the removal of the launcher? I'm guessing this is not a problem for side loaded apps which are not launchers.

I really don't know. No one else here has had the problem other then one person who install a bad version of it. So I can't say if it was the cause or not. To be on safe if your gonna restart your Fire it might be a good idea to make sure when you switch to the default launcher before doing it. I can't remember if I did that or not as I was half asleep.

I right now wonder if if it was the wallpaper app as it was the only new app installed before this happened but I can't say for certain.

Not good to hear Blossom. I hope it works out for you. I thought you were not rooted. Before they sent a new one did they ask you about rooting on your device??

I'm not rooted. No they didn't but he did ask me if I dropped it.

I've been trying to see after this happen if I could root it to get it work again but I don't think the tools are updated enough since the firmware for me to fix anything.

All I did was restart the Fire for the first time after 6.2.2 the only things installed after the update was wallpaper rotating app. I do know if Go! or it or the firmware caused it. I just wish I knew.

GO is NOT a problem at all. Everythings fine on my Fire, updated to 6.2.2, all stuff working 100%. Rooting easy with Burrito and /or modified KFU 0.9.2. Even market was working right after the update without doing anything else.

Got replacement updated to 6.2.2 automatically. Rebooted several times and no issues. I have not tried to put Go! back on. Not sure if I feel brave enough at the moment.

Oh I noticed 6.2.2 gives us numbers on the letter keys! I now wonder if it was a bad update my old one did not have this.

I think the numbers on the upper row of letter keys was there a long time before 6.2.2.

No this is different. There is numbers now on the letter keys and you hold them down then you get the number not the letter.

No more needing to touch the arrow key to switch to the number keys.
