Thumbs up Cemetery Dance "All You Can Read" eBook Membership 2012! [ENDED]

This is pretty cool - I've signed up to see what happens

http://www.cemeterydance.com/page/CDP/PROD/E_AYCR2012

"Hi Folks!

Today we're very pleased to announce an exciting new membership plan that will allow you to read ANY eBook we publish in 2012, along with all of the eBooks we've already published, for a small one-time fee!

In the six months since we launched our eBook store, we've published books by William Peter Blatty, Peter Straub, Jay Bonansinga, Norman Partridge, Glen Hirshberg, Brian Hodge, Brian Keene, Mick Garris, Rick Hautala, Ronald Kelly, Simon Clark, Ed Gorman, Geoff Cooper, Brian James Freeman, James A. Moore, Rocky Wood, Kirby McCauley, and many others.

There are nearly 40 eBooks you can download right away with a combined retail value of more than $130, plus we have dozens of new eBooks in the works for 2012, including some exciting originals and also reprints of classic out of print horror novels you haven't read in years!

Our eBooks range in price from $0.99 to $9.99, but the cost of this membership is just a one-time fee of $49, which breaks down to $4.08 per month! If you think you'd want to download even a couple of eBooks each month, this is a great deal!
SPECIAL BONUS WORTH UP TO $40!

Because we hope you still love print editions as much as we do, members will also receive a FREE signed Limited Edition hardcover later this year! All you'll have to pay is any applicable shipping. Considering the retail value of $30 to $40 for the free book, the low purchase price of this membership is an EVEN BETTER deal with this special bonus!

Here's how the plan works:
* Just place your order for your membership through this product page.

* After we process all of the orders, we'll email you a personalized coupon code so you can purchase ANY Cemetery Dance eBooks that are available through our online store during 2012 -- both new releases and older titles!

* This coupon code will be linked to you personally and will be valid for ONE FREE DOWNLOAD of each eBook in our store through the end of the 2012.

* You'll need to be able to order your eBooks through our online store and also manually load the eBooks on your reader or App of choice to take advantage of this membership. Please read our eBook FAQ for more information if you have any questions.

* The eBook files you download during your membership will remain yours to read after the membership ends."

Sounds like a great bargain, in terms of quantity: "....we have dozens of new eBooks in the works for 2012..."

That means at least 24 ebooks.

Quality, of course, will be assessed by each potential person who joins in on the plan.

I like the idea of the plan. Perhaps other publishers will join in and do something similar.

its Cemetary Dance, THE name in horror so i'm pretty confident that they'll have a quality line up. they put out limited editions of Stephen King and William Peter Blatty, that level stuff so i wouldn't expect too many duds. if i had the $$$ i'd certainly sign up for this.

If I were a fan of "Horror and Dark Suspense" I'd be signing up immediately. They have 41 ebooks currently available. Even if they published no more ebooks in 2012, that's still less than $1.20 per ebook.

I hope they don't lose too much money over this offer. They say that they're paying normal royalties on ebooks downloaded under this scheme.

I'm quite familiar with Cemetery Dance. I have the first 45 issues of their magazine - in pristine Mint Condition.

However, I recognize that not everyone will like what I like.

After adding the new titles, it will be less than a dollar per ebook in royalties. I'm thinking like 50 cents. The authors may do better independently.

From the site:
Quote:
we're pleased to report that our authors will be paid their FULL ROYALTY RATE on any copies downloaded by members of the "All You Can Read" program. So if there are 100 members in this program and they each download an author's eBook, that author will be paid the same as if 100 copies were sold at the regular retail price.

Wow, that looks like an excellent deal. I don't normally read horror, but for this, I'm considering it.

We don't know what is their "full royalty rate."

They are earning less than a dollar per book (minus transaction fees) and still offer full royalty rates. How can they accomplish that?

I'm wondering if they have an immediate cash flow problem.

check out the prices of their collectors hardcovers (which sell like hotcakes). i don't think they're losing much on this deal.

i only have one but their physical editions are gorgeous.

Baen manages to distribute hundreds of ebooks for free, allows the Fifth Imperium CD collection to be shared openly, sells ebooks in bundles, and encourages people to share them with each other. They don't seem to have a cash flow problem.

This is another company that seems to have realized that low-cost ebooks can boost its print sales. Paying the authors full royalties means they'll take a hit on some of those bundled subscriptions--but not all, because some people will sign up, and download a book or so per month, which gives them plenty of money to pay the authors. For the rest, they can consider it as promotional costs; they'll reach a great many readers who otherwise wouldn't be considering their books at all.

Their web page says this is in the 'last days', the special offer. And that was three days ago.

So I am guessing end of January this deal will close.
