I've read a few more Agatha's since my last post, they all have surprising endings but I would have liked them to be a bit longer.

I'm going through this terrific series by Andrea Camilleri, set in Sicily, as audiobooks; the awesome English translation has really knocked my socks off!

Start with the first one The Shape of Water and read in order. As an added bonus, there's a lot of foodie porn!

If you like Christie, you should try J. S. Fletcher. I've only recently discovered these, although he was a leading light of the 'Golden Age'. Superb reads - really fast-paced, and very difficult to put down, because almost every chapter ends with a cliff-hanger, rather like a radio serial. Not for another 40 years (I think - pretty sure they have the full copyright period). Most libraries stock them, though - they're still very popular. WH Smith (big bookseller in the UK) has also reprinted them as the Ngaio Marsh collection>

I found the entire 33 book collection at [mod: PIRATE SITE DELETED] for $16.50 or $0.50 each. They are pretty good editions with covers and only minor typos (ePub files converted with Calibre from HTML). I am beating them into submission with my own CSS as I read them.

An excellent crime noir book is Night Train by Martin Amis. As far as I know, this is the only mystery he's written and it is excellent. Wish he'd write more.
