Now that's interesting. I just found it was dull - no sense of peril at all, since the heroes had so much power.

Certainly there were bits that were fun, but the overall story wasn't very good, IMO.

the 2,500 year gap in the action wasn't paid enough attention. Apart from using iron sword instead of bronze, and a few trees having been cut down, it seems that the language and everything else stayed remarkably the same.

Note that the bronze age/iron age transition happened only 2,600 years ago in the UK....

Something amazing has happened:

I started a book I had no intention of reading, but now I'm finding myself loving it. I'm only on location 116 of 6775, so things could change.

The book is "Alien Chicks in Citrus Bras And Stalkers From Beyond The Stars," by Barry Barroldson.

I think his writing is wonderful and the humor is outrageously funny.

I've now started reading "Endgame Enigma" by James P. Hogan. An "SF Interlude" from my normal mystery reading. I read this many, many years ago, but remember nothing about it other than that I enjoy it. Mr. Hogan is among my favourite "hard SF" authors.

Yes, I "read" this in an Audible version a few years ago while we were working our way though the Ngaio Marsh books in order. Definitely one of her best.

I'm reading Percepliquis, by Michael Sullivan. I've really enjoyed this series, and I hope to see more great work from this author in the future. I really wish that I'd re-read the series just before reading this last book; I'm searching for a thorough summery of the first five on the internet right now. It's not that I don't remember the plot and characters, but there have been a few points that I was hazy on.

I highly recommend "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie to anyone who likes mystery/crime books. 5/5 stars

Because I have the 4-book bundle but I don't have A Dance with Dragons. I checked it out from the library and read about 220 pages before it had to go back. So now I'm waiting for it again, and in the meantime I'm finishing some other books I've been working on for a while.
