Favorite place to write?

I did a search and couldn't find a thread on the topic and thought I'd post one. Everyone has their favorite place to do their writing depending upon their choice of writing tools. I mean you can't very well lug a desktop computer around in your pocket for example, though a netbook or a paper notebook is a different story.

My favorite place to write is a booth at a local restaurant a few blocks from where I live. It's never very crowded (in part due to the economy I'm sure) and sometimes I have lunch there before doing some writing work. Other days I just order coffee. The booth used to be in the smoking section of the restaurant but the state outlawed smoking in restaurants a yr or so back so it's pretty pleasant.

I find Starbucks to be a great place to write.

I'm able to tune out the noise of conversation - because it's mostly in Spanish.

There's also air-conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. There's also food, a bathroom, and other modern conveniences.

Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to wear my pajamas.

Don't feel bad Dr.Drib I'm pretty sure they don't allow such attire here where I go for coffee while writing either.lol.

Maybe this is why I have trouble writing anythiing ... I've never tried in Pajamas ... Thanks for the tip !

When we moved into this house in 1991, I took an extra bedroom and made it into my writing office. Tho' now that I have an iPad, I've written in hotel rooms while on the road doing book events. As it happens, I'm going to try writing on the iPad at the dining table, more for the variety than anything.

I've never had or needed a favorite place to write... I write wherever my writing tools are.

That includes my laptop and my smartphone, and generally, one of those is with me almost everywhere. (And yes, I've composed entire chapters on my smartphone's Word app. I wrote the finale of one work on the beach in Aruba.)

About the best I could do would be to name a few "least favorite" places to write... namely, places with other things going on that make them too distracting. For instance, if the beach in Aruba had been a nude beach--which could turn out to be one of my favorite places, but not to write...

Very cool topic, thanks so much for posting it. I can imagine you just kicking it and writing. I envy you because I wish I had a laptop. Did you see some of those new ones that were unveiled recently? Man, so nice and neat, and not even that expensive.
I guess writing is my sanctuary, it is the place I like to go. My situation could be better, and it is my writing that gives me the hope that one day it shall be.

At the moment I write in a little corner of a one bedroom apartment I share with two other people. It is an old desktop, but it has everything I need. Keyboard, mouse, word, net

Starbucks, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Micky D's, Doctor's, Dentist, most anywhere I have time and a chair/booth. I have a Sony net-book that goes with me most anytime I am out of the house.

I started on a very slow Handheld PC with pocket Word a number of years ago and have updated to a fairly quick net-book that has a sizable library on board. Most places have hot-spots in case my library comes up short.
