After I got my first ereader, my wife suggested that I could now get rid of my physical book collection. Blasphemy!!!! I have thousands of hard cover and paperback books and I have no desire to rid myself of them.

I use calibre & calibre2opds to put all ~1500-ish books on my (rooted) nook classic. Then I use trook on the nook to navigate through the OPDS catalog so that I have convenient access to all the books.

I only keep 10 or less books on my reader.
After I got my PRS T1, I slowly put my entire ebook-collection (about 250 books) on the reader. But it started slowing down and act strange. Since I went back to only keeping a few on the device (like I used to do on my Mini), the reader is fine again.

No because there is not enough room!

I have about 300 odd on my Kindle at the moment - work books, unread fiction that I want to read soon and a few dozen of my re-read fav. books.

The rest I store on laptop with a monthly backup to an external hard drive and a 3-monthly backup to DVD.

Keeping dloads on PC for Kindle

I have found it more efficient to keep all my ebook downloads on my hard drive Then when I want read a book I transfer it to my PC-for-Kindle via the "My Kindle Comment" file on the the hard drive.

From there I can transfer it to my Kindle reader via the Documents folder that appears on the computer screen when the Kindle is being charged.

I am sure there are other ways but I am a newbie and trying to find my way.

What I would REALLY like to know is how to remove the DRM protection.

We're not allowed to help you here, because that gets MR in legal trouble, but if you ask google about Apprentice Alf, you might find something useful...

I Fibbed!!

I tend to keep "read" books on my device in case I want to read them again. Having a short term memory has its advantages.
Since getting my Kobo as a christmas present I have been cramming it with books from the Kobo store as well as stuff converted with calibre.

Now I have an Opus instead of a Kindle as my main ebook reader, I keep all my books on there. The entire collection is on a microSD card, and the unread ones are in the internal memory. Less than 380 unread now!

Wasn't it you guys that received a North Korean Air Force defector abut two decades ago? Misawa is really remotely located. Do you get R&R in Tokyo at times?

I think I remember something about that after we left, but don't remember anything specific. I was military dependent, and everything was Need to Know for military members, and dependents very rarely needed to know anything.

Some of my books seem to wander around, I'm not sure where they live, some of them seem to live in MANY places, I think some have gone Feral ... One day I will actually try to find and put them all in one place ... with 4 or 5 BackUp copies of the collection !

The last time I lived in Japan it was 365 Yen to the Dollar. Now even The Japanese can not afford to live in Japan.
