I used my Mastercard the first night - it pooped out after about 20, so I finished up with Visa. I used Visa the second night, and went back to Mastercard last night. It worked fine for 55 books, and worked fine tonight (don't know how many I bought yet, but I am done with the Temptation. Only nickel books from now on). If one is giving you problems, use another, and then switch back to the first.

I'm with Blossom - time to do some reading! And that sweater I thought I could wear tomorrow remains at half done!
I get the same error code with a different credit card.

Sorry, poodlemom, that worked for me. Gee, you tried different credit cards and different browsers. Did you call Harlequin? Make sure you turn off popup blocker for this site. Can't think of anything else - it even works through my firewall at work!

I sent them another email last night, but I haven't called yet. After buiying 72 books, I am a little bit embarrassed to be so greedy. I even tried using my iphone and I get the same message. I have gotten all of the ones I really wanted. The only thing left on my wish list are nickel books...maybe that is why they won't let me back in.

It does sound like the CC company. If it worked then stopped.
I would try calling your Card company again. You could always go to the store and pick up a prepaid Visa gift card if you get desperate. I have used them before at HQ with no issues.

I am going to go back and read all your posts again to find more authors. I liked what you said about novels. I do like suspense and mystery too.

I've only read a couple of her books but I went and bought them all. Linda Warren is one to check out. She writes Modern Western type stories. Her Book Christmas Cradle was Excellent!

Thanks I bought the Christmas Cradle just now. What interests me is that there are a lot more cowboys and babies in the harlequins these days. I think the only cowboys I remember when I was reading them in the old days were in the Janet Dailey books, one for each state (books not cowboys). Loved those. There were a lot of Outback books particularly by Lucy Walker (don't remember if they were Harlequin or not). Loved those too. And most Harlequins seemed to take place in exotic places. Some guy living on a boat in the Caribbean etc. Kind of fun to see how they are today. The sex has increased expeditiously, that's for sure. Kind of wish it hadn't. Oh well, can always do what my 90 year old mother used to do, page forward through what she called "the repeats".

Any other recommendations always welcome.

And the millionaires have all become billionaires. Also, "CEO" in the title can now refer to a woman, not just men. I found a cowboy billionaire CEO today, with a baby. (At what point does a theme become a meme?)

But one thing hasn't changed - a lot of us eat these up like fat-free candy. I got four more today, and added more to the wishlist. I was gonna try for more but I was afraid I'd break my account again. Might try the three-hour rule that someone (Blossom?) mentioned. Either way, I think I'll run out of books I want before I run out of time on the code.

That's how you know they are doing it right

Modern Westerns are a hot theme for books today! HQ did a poll last year on what type of hero you like most out of all of the choices Cowboy won.

What I find interesting while Modern Westerns are hot you might be able to find a historical western here and there. In the 90s they were more popular but now only handful come out each year. historical westerns are my favorite. So I buy all those back title books being self published right away.

The love scenes seem to be the primary focus of the HQ books now Unfortunately. Most Blaze titles are near Erotica which is why I prefer Temptation titles instead. If you want more plot Intrigue line is really good on those. The Romantic suspense as well. The Nascar Titles have no sex in them at all. Not allowed or drinking or crashing their car. Of course Loved Inspired are very clean and chaste seeing they are inspirational. I buy them too because they focus on the plot than the physical reactions of the hero and heroine. As long as they aren't too preachy. Those go in the DNF pile.

I mostly read Silhouette Intimate Moments they seem to have just the right mix.

So true! In the newer titles alot of the Cowboys are billionaire CEOs in the Desire line. It's hilarious. Not interesting reading those.

I gave up one the 3 hour limit and now do 10 at a time every couple hours to pace myself. Once fixed the only worry is your card company locking your card.

For the lulz: Random Romance Novel Title Generator. I bet some of these are probably actually in Harlequin's catalogue or will be soon.

Also, people are probably already doing this, but Harlequin and Mills & Boon's novella-length free online reads pages are a good way to quickly sample an unknown author's work to see if their plots fall apart or they have too much pointless relationship drama or gratuitous sex for one's tastes. And the stories are generally ones that tie in to the authors' established series, as well.

I'll be browsing through the Historical and Suspense sections to see if any authors match up to the more interesting-but-iffy listings the sale catalogue. It looks like they've got an Elizabeth Lane wild western, so I can check to see if I like how she does her stories before I spring for her aviation tale recommended above.

And of course, there's always the promo sites Try Harlequin and Everyone's Reading (no new stuff, but at least they've put the old books back even if they make you register to download them now) with the freebie e-book downloads. It looks like they've added ePub for even the non-English works as well, if anyone wants to practice their Spanish or French.

Thanks to whoever it was that mentioned Julie Miller. I just finished the Taylor series (sucks that I had to read book 1 in paper) and liked it a lot, I'm looking forward to reading her precinct books.
