Anyone run into any books that are out digitally, but not on the Harlequin site?

I was trying to find 'The Shadow' by Aimée Thurlo and I can't locate it on Harlequin's site, but it's available as an eBook on Amazon (it's a 2010 release). Weird.

Yep I had the same issue with one of Cait London's books.
I bought it from Amazon for 3.44 so not too bad.
I believe Fictionwise has that one if you wait for a good coupon, you can get it there.

I own this one and got it Books on Boards way back when. I think there isn't a epub version which is why it's missing. Mine is Lit.
Cisco's Woman is really good of hers.

[QUOTE=Britomart;1918913]For historicals, as I said earlier, I like Jeannie Lin, Christine Merrill. Louise Allen and Julia Justiss, but I forgot to mention Carla Kelly, who writes fabulously.

I agree about Carla Kelly, especially "Marrying the Royal Marine". She is a truly gifted writer of Historical Romance.

I logged in to my account one last time before I called CS, and was shocked to find it fixed! I bought the Candace Camp Lost Heirs trilogy (any good?) and didn't have a problem with the order or downloading. Yay! Then hubby came home and said he noticed while checking the account that one of the $6ish books I purchased the first day didn't get the coupon applied and went through at full price. Oops. I got too clicky and didn't double check, I guess. Not sure if I have the guts to ask them to apply it retroactively. My embarassment threshold does not take much to exceed. LOL

Thanks much! I downloaded but didn't mess much with the tools, but I still have the site bookmarked.

I have simply decided that I must live forever, so that I can read all the books and craft all the crafts and taste all the foods that are still on my to-do list. Shouldn't be a problem, right?

But I've kind of got a list of criteria for the couples-type stuff I'd rather not see in those (e.g. nothing where the hero/heroine are made to look better by having their rivals in competition for the other person's hand-in-marriage be total despicable sociopaths who would never understand what it is to love and are only in it for baser lust/money/psychotic obsession reasons, because that's really irritating to read).
If these are your criteria, you can't do better than buy Carla Kelly's historicals. They are set in the rather over-used Regency period, but they are most emphatically not about dukes etc., but Beau Crusoe is about a scientist, and the other four full-length novels available at Harlequin are about men who work in the navy. The novels are meticulously researched and about highly likeable characters, not least because they are ordinary people who need to act in difficult situations. Not a flat character in sight.

If you like unusual settings in historicals, Elizabeth Lane's On the Wings of Love is about aviation in early 20th cent. USA.

Judith James's HQN titles are set in the Restoration period. I haven't read her Harlequin titles yet, but from other books I have read, while they do have characters with larger-than-like tendencies, I can't recall any mercenary rivals, and they feature highly unusual plot elements and a lovely, lyrical style.

Scientists and aviation are definite bonuses, so I'll go have a look at those, thanks!

A little iffy about the generally standard post-Tudor-to-Victorian UK/Ireland and US settings, since they tend to over-populate regular historical fiction (and historical mysteries) as well. Something a bit more uncommon like Renaissance Italy or Ancient Greece or feudal Japan would be nice, but I don't expect those are popular enough that there'd be many books written in them in the first place, much less good quality ones which also suit my preferences.

I'll try sampling the Judith James, though they don't quite look like my kind of thing.

Candace Camp books are all worth it. I paid full price on some and got some through FW. I was introduced to her through her standalone Scandalous from the first page I was hooked!

I also got charge full price for one of my books. Only one so far. My guess I click the wrong coupon in my form history. I deleted all but the right one after that.

I only bought one historical because they are $5+ It's a western book I've been waiting patiently for it to come out here in the US in ebook. Stacey Kane's Mustang Wild. I've had the rest of the series forever before I realized book one was missing.

Diane Gaston writes historical. She is another auto buy for me but may not be to everyone's liking.

I have never used Calibre. Can you import all your books at once? In what format do you download them onto your laptop? I hope that I don't sound too clueless? Perhaps I will pm after the sale. Thank you for telling me about it.

Can you recommend a Diane Gaston book to try out and a Candace Camp please? Also is Mustang Wild Stacey Kane's best? Thank you so much Blossom for all your informative posts.

Scandalous is a great stand alone for Candace Camp.

Diane Gaston's Three Soldiers series is pretty good.
  • Gallant Officer, Forbidden Lady
  • Chivalrous Captain, Rebel Mistress
  • Valiant Soldier, Beautiful Enemy

I haven't read Stacey Kane's books yet so can't comment on them.

Anything by Carla Kelly is good too.
