I agree if there are a lot of pictures.

Unfortunately i had only the 10 default pictures shipped with the 903 and no memory card attached. After switching off thumbnails its much faster. Indexing 10 pictures taking longer than 10 minutes seem a little bit out of range to me.

I haven't much data loaded onto the 903 as i'm using it seldomly due to ..hmm...speed, bugs, ... Just using it once in a while to check if the next firmware is good enough to work daily with the 903.

I'm aware of that but hope dies last

It is not faster for pdf files - actually slower page turns for PDFviewer after zooming. So I changed back to the old dirver.

The Fast Display Driver of 2.1.2 final is nice - enables handwritten Notes in Real-Time - but as Forkosigan mentioned it is not as stable as the Slow Display Driver - i worked a lot with the Fast one - still no crash

Thanks Dolanski: I'm about to flash the fast display driver as taking free-hand notes it the primary function for me when not reading - is this frimware version superior than the "slow" only in terms of annotation, or are there otehr funtions where it should work better than the "slow" version?

The page turn in Adobe Viewer is noticable faster for e.g. Science -PDF-Books i use.
As well as the Task-Switches with the Task-Manager

The Text-Highlighting seems to be the same *instead of pulling the Stylus from left to right, my Stylus work better from right to left shifting and hold half of second the stylus on the first letter (left-right) or last letter(right to left, which i prefer) of the text you want to mark which trigger the text-extraction-process and watch the Underline Cursor to follow your stylus* then the Text-Highlighting works pretty well - at least for me. - if u got a slow down u can interrupt it by doing the interaction again - always watch the green light if the process still running to interrupt for.

If you use two 200% or more +% column Text with Adobe Viewer the navigation from section to section is only possible with the navigation DOWN/UP keys - i mentioned in the bugtracker that i want the section navigation with the page turn button and i hope it will be implemented in the near future in 2.1.3 Beta FW

The Eraser is still a slow down - but it works - to fasten up a little bit the slow erasing procedure it helps to imagine a bounding rectangle box around the to be deleted area - to delete in one stroke from one corner to the diagonal opposite one - to do as less eraser-strokes as possible. The deleting of handwritten notes is less slower the the deleting of highlighting.

It would be nice if sometimes the eraser work as fast as the Scribble-one

I like new firmware, especially with enhancements from Dolansky. It's a shame the development process is so slow OTOH. Again I would like to ask, is there any way to synchronize on the fly notes made in scribble? I asked about Dropbox in another thread, but no success so far.

Installed the fast display firmware with no problem.
No freeze yet.
Page displays are really faster now just like most other ebook readers. Why took this so long. Maybe PB needs more programmers or less models to focus on.

Thanks for posting the fast display firmware!
For some reason in the official 2.1.2 my magnification button was working as previous page button. With the fast display one it's working correctly (pb 903).

Plus taking notes is possible now for impatient people like me now. I'll check the stability and share my findings.

yes, notes are looking faster, and zooming in and en out produces good quality notes - only, the eraser seems slower (in Adobeviewer for pdf files) than with the "slow dirver" version, but it could be the file - thanks Dolanski for the "imaginary box" tip with the eraser, it really does help.

Hi there!
My 902 is still using 2.0.6 and I'm interested in this 2.1.2 release.
The release notes mention they fixed "Russian hyphenation in Adobe Reader".
Does this mean there is support for automatic hyphenation in epub books?

I updated to the slow 2.1.2 FW and I still am finding that the scribble in pdfs is not writing where i touch the stylus, but about half cm below..only when the pdf is rotated to landscape
when its in portrait the scribble works ok.

Also, since I left the 2.0.6 FW months ago, my reader never remembers where I was last reading in any book...and so i always have to use bookmarks now. kinda annoying.

this is strange: I've been on that firmware (now I am on the "fast" one) and I cannot remember having this problem - I'm sure I would have noticed. If I were you, I would try and reflashing it.
