[SOLVED] Formatted Kindle, now no more books show up
I formatted my kindle's memory (kindle 4 wi-fi w/ SO), and now none of the books I put on it via calibre or manually in the documents folder do show up. It simply tells me there are no contents to view. All I get is the empty "archive (0)" link (I don't have wi-fi to download). What can I do?

Not sure there is any way to undo that. Formatting erases everything. What problem were you trying to solve by formatting?

Try doing a factory reset.

I imagine you only formatted the user mountable portion (what you see when you plug it in to a computer via USB)
Try a factory reset. |

Check your Amazon account online to make sure that the device is still registered and your books are still showing in their archives. I believe that the Kindle will need to "talk" to Amazon via wifi before any archived Amazon books show as available.

Unfortunately you will have lost your TTS files by doing the format - I suspect you'll find that TTS no longer works.
Edit: Never mind, I see that you have a K4 which doesn't have TTS ![]() |

If the file system became corrupt, would be one reason. This can happen quite easily if you don't do a "safely remove hardware" or "eject" before unplugging the USB cable.

In addition to Harry's response, sometimes Windows gives a "this drive must be formatted before you can use it" message when it's not actually true. I occasionally have this happen with USB drives (especially those I use with multiple OSes) and once or twice with my Kindle. Usually it can be resolved just by disconnecting and reconnecting the device in question, but I'm sure some people take it at it's word and format the device.
