Just finished Leaving VanGogh by Carol Wallace. The last days of Vincent VanGogh as told by Doctor Gachet.

Marvelous book - and it had me digging through my coffee table book of VanGogh to try and find the pictures described in the novel. The story is a very interesting mixture of art, genius and psychiatric treatment at the time. Definitely recommended!

Next up: Murder is Easy by Agatha Christie. Her 33rd book.

(This was one of the few of her books that I couldn't get through Fictionwise when they had their big sale. I actually bought it in December 2010 from Amazon for £3.99!)

I might just do what you have suggested - read the summaries and then read Sanderson's concluding volumes.
I'm actually working my way through the Wheel of Time series. I read it years ago up to a point, but I can't remember to which book I got. Since the last book has been finished (Sanderson is busy with editing now) I decided to do a complete read.

I'm on book 3 now: The Dragon Reborn

The series has its good points and its bad points (especially the repetitions of things/actions already said and done by certain characters). Overall I'm enjoying it, and it's interesting how some things stick in your mind for years to suddenly pop up while you are reading.

Yes it's very good, but long. I found a really good free version here they have the Kindle Version too.

Ah, Wonderful! Heyer at her absolute peek. All the elements are there. Disguise and misunderstanding, a long lost heir, an abduction to Gretna Green, a damsel (heiress, of course) in distress, an apparent highwayman or two, and even Bow Street. All with humour and more than one plot twist. Positively delightful. 5 out of 5, for me.

Next up, a quintet of Kate Shugak stories by Dana Stabenow.

Did you find these in a single volume somewhere? Which stories? I grabbed the free one from Dana, but haven't picked up the other 4 (then there are also the 8 other ones that are not about Kate to some day consider getting as well)

Just finished Deep Storm by Lincoln Child. Quite enjoyed it. Interesting story, not necessarily very believable however and characters very flat but action kept me interested.

Nope, these are the individual ones. 1+4 on Kate. 8 others. Got them all. But I'm going to treat the 5 Kate ones as a "book" for the purposes of the challenge. They're individually small, but together seem about right for that. Not sure what I'll do about the other 8, or when I'll read them. The Liam Campbell ones are easy (especially since she's going to tie the two story lines together with the next book we hear), but the others are just one-offs.

Hard Magic by Larry Correia. i'm not an "urban fantasy" fan really but Correia is such an awesome writer.

" Jake Sullivan is a war hero, a private eye—and an ex-con. He’s free because he has a magical talent, being able to alter the force of gravity in himself and objects in his vicinity, and the Bureau of Investigation calls on him when they need his help in apprehending criminals with their own magical talents. But the last operation he was sent along to help with went completely wrong, and Delilah Jones, the woman the G-men were after, who just happened to be an old friend of Jake’s in happier times, had a lot of magical muscle with her, too much muscle for the cops to handle, even with Jake’s help.

It got worse. Jake found out that the Feds had lied to him about Delilah being a murderer as well as a bank robber, and they had lied about this being his last job for them—he was too valuable for them to let him go. And things were even worse than Jake imagined. There was a secret war being waged by opposing forces of magic-users, and Jake had no idea that he had just attracted the attention of one side, whose ruthless leaders were of the opinion that Jake was far too dangerous to be permitted to live . . ."

Well I finished reading Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Played With Fire and then finished watching the movie as well. The book was great and the movie was a well-done adaptation of the book. So now I'm starting to read the final Book in the Millennium series, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. It'll probably be just as good. At least I hope so.

I finished reading Erle Stanley Gardner's The Case of the Curious Bride. Early into it I realized that this was another one that had been adapted for TV, and I knew who the killer was and how the book ends. Well, there were differences from the TV episode, which had a much tidier ending as I recall, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it in spite of having seen the spoiler.

Now it's on to the January's MobileRead Book Club selection, Black Rain by Masuji Ibuse.

I just finished reading Tess Gerritsen's The Apprentice. I really enjoyed it, although not as much as The Surgeon. I haven't watched the Rizzoli and Isles series yet, so will be interesting to see how it compares with the books.

I just bought Matthew Reilly's Scarecrow Returns, so think I'll read that next.

The Rizzoli and Isles series is very good. Keep reading.

As for the TV series, I like it. but you have to remember, it's not the same even though you do get threads from the books. But don't judge the books based on the TV series.
