As to your gripe about spamming, there are numerous comments on this forum about how to get rid of them, from downgrading to switching to shortlist display or deleting recommend books on the web page (I personally have yet to see a recommendation from Kobo displayed on my device or on the desktop application). Hopefully, one of those will suit you. Enjoy your reading, François |

Suggestions for next firmware update
User defined Folders in library would be fantastic. Or even just tagging books into categories like Fantasy, Sci-Fi, YA and so on.
I really dislike the HOME-Button. It was way faster to navigate to wherever you wanted to go with several buttons. Now if I want to check out my awards, i have to click on Reading Life, wait for it to load, then click it again and navigate to Awards. Same goes for the search in my library. Home Button - Libraray - wait till it's loaded (I have lots of books so that takes a while) - Search button. It's nice the the advertising can be ignored by switching to shortlist but I preferred the Home screen without that bottom row and more buttons... Also, within a book a "go to page ..." function would be great. I have downloaded a book I own in paperback (Stephen King's IT) that I wanted to finish on my Kobo cause it's just soooo much easier to hold than a 1400 page book. It took me a while to find the page I was on though. The scrolly-bar is useful but doesn't really let you go to a specific page. Other than that I am very happy with my Kobo and the functions it offers. Just the Home-Button and the advertising are two things that would absolutely have to go. If they don't with the next update, I'll downgrade to the last one. I didn't notice any faster page turns (they were very fast as it was) or other improvements, really. |

For next firmware update i'D like t see a way to have a way to mark a book as unread. The option to mark them as finished is there. But i have many books right now that are at 1% read because i clicked on them or because of the double tap bug. I'd like to revert those books to the unread state.
also when i add a book on my kobo it always appear on the front page. I'd like to keep the book i'm currently reading on the front page ![]() thanks thanks |

Something I would find very useful is a notepad rather than the "carnet de croquis" (I don't know how it's called in the english version : sketchbook ?). I tried to use it to note some titles I wanted to explore further when back at home, not having access to internet from my office. It was painful, letters where very huge, I obtained an image with at most 4 words, not well "inked" and finalement I had to make a memo on my phone

1) use the Desktop Application or the Touch to remove/delete the books you want in an unread state 2) go to your purchase history using either Desktop App>Account>Purchase History or www.kobobooks.com>My Library>Purchased 3) select the books you want to reset and bookmark them 4) sync your Touch 5) to update your Desktop immediately do a sync. If your omit this step the Desktop will automatically be updated the next time you open it. |

I agree with Wendy (see above) and would add the ability to read formats other than PDF in landscape, |

The kobo is almost perfect for my use with the lastest firmware (just miss to my mind a "folder" classification in the library settings but no big deal with that).
But the sd card bug (return to home page after a few page on my 2 sd card, used in other devices without any bug) is realy a big issue to me, because i need to store lot of documentations (pdf and cbz format) in the kobo, and the 1go internal storage is just too small. I've tried 4 sdhc card (2*8go sandisk,16go lexar and 4go no name). Tried formated as fat16 (with the 4go), fat32 and ext3 (used sdformater tool too) Tried soft and hard reset. Tried downgrade to 1.19.12 firmware (bug remain but i can read about 30 page before i get back to home screen instead of 3 or 4 page with the 1.19.16 so it's realy a firmware issue). Tried to put only files in the sd card and no file in the kobo memory. Tried with Calibre. Tried direct copy. I don't know what to do to get the sd card works Please do something about this sd card bug Thank |

Easier Wireless password entry
Unfortunately I have a 63 character randomly generated password, and on top of that my SSID is hidden, and I have my router use a list of acceptable MAC addresses.
First time logging on was painful typing in 63 character meaningless string. It (WiFi) didn't connect. So I disabled Access Control on the wireless router and tried to connect again. This time it connected. I assumed then that the Kobo Touch reader would save or remember this connection, and re-enabled Access Control on the router. The KT failed to connect. I did a rescan for available wireless networks, but the KT had forgotten the hidden networks SSID AND the password. It would be nice if the Wireless Setup allowed loading of password strings (copy paste) from say a txt file on an sdhc card, or via USB. Also the Kobo desktop software is rather limited. Sure it installs new firmware and selects language, but it does nothing else when it comes to setting up the KT via the PC. That could be improved substantially. Including setting up the KT WiFi via the Kobo Desktop program. To sum up it was easier to set up wifi for my nokia mid-range phone with my not really that stringent security settings. Other than that thus far I have no regrets for choosing KT over other eReaders. Thank you for considering my wish list. |

I use book covers for hibernation mode and most of the time, the banner hides a part of the author or title.
Maybe with the next firmware update there is a choice wether the banner is placed at the bottom or top (or even the middle) of the screen!? This would be a nice feature. |

I have set up a directory on my FTP-Server to put in ePubs from my desktop and pick them up easily via the Kobo Touch Browser (Dropbox-Folders work, too, but require more clicks to get the file)...
Bug-Report: When picking up an ePub with the Webbrowser the Kobo offers to download it, then goes into the "processing data"-screen - and stays there forever. If I press the home-button some time, the new file is there all right! So this seems to be a minor bug not progressing beyond that screen when processing is done... Feature-Request: Easier ways to load books to the Kobo would be appreciated in general. Any way to send non-Kobo-books right into the reader via WiFi directly or via dropbox-integration or similar services would be great. It should be possible to do whatever I can now do via USB over WiFi as easily. |

Most of the time I'm really happy with my Touch. But there are also some improvements I'd like to add (if they are already mentioned, I apologice - but hope also that repeating make them more urgent for the developers). I'm using version 1.9.16 of the firmware.
# cbz/cbz in landscape mode: possibility of moving the page vertically # cbr/cbz in 270° mode: page turning is reverse/irritating # possibility of turning off the wifi manually # possibility of manually installing or downloading (via 'Kobo Desktop') other dictionarys (german-english is not really helpful: only knows 50% of the words of an average english ebook) # possibility to hide the recommend/favorites/new ebooks panel at the bottom of the home screen... # ...so the current read ebook images have more space (--> bigger pictures possible) # more information about the ebooks in the library's 5-book-view (percentage of reading advance; size of the ebook) # possibility of organising my ebooks within folders or gouping by format/author/rating/tags # book search via tags and rating of the ebooks # installation of my own fonts and possibility of deleting unwanted ones # the built-in browser should install downloaded ebooks within the library right after downloading them (i.e via gutenberg.org) I hope it helps improving the already good device and software to 'gold-standard' ![]() Last edited by matzekatze; 01-05-2012 at 04:28 PM. |

What I do for downloading books VIA WiFi is I've made dropbox the home page on the Kobo browser and I can download the books from there. |

Also, I'm pretty sure that ebooks downloaded via the browser already show up in the library. I like the rest of your suggestions, though. =] |
