Calibre opening in blank page

Hi. I'm new here and new to ebooks and the calibre application.

I downloaded calibre a few days ago and it ran fine. Then for no apparent reason it started to open up 2 pages/tabs when I started it. One is the standard view (Calibre -|| calibre library ||) and the other is a blank page called calibre which masks the other. I've no idea why this should be happening. I removed the application and downloaded it again but it runs the same way.
Any ideas?

What Operating System ?? (XP, Ubuntu, OSX ) and version/SP

Hi thanks for the very quick response. It Windows 7. Not sure what the service pack is. Not very computer literate I'm afraid.

Post a screenshot, it might help people understand what your issue looks like.

It opens to white screen. Is there much point in posting that?

Given the lack of responses in this thread, were I in your position I would consider it worthwhile, as clearly the description you have given is not sufficient for anyone to offer a suggestion. Picture worth a thousand words and all that...

Seeing your complet desktop might give us a clue.
I just had a person "Missing Metadata", turned out was only missing Comments in the book details. 10 seconds of looking at the picture vs 1000 seconds per question and answer

BTW I am suspecting this might be a corrupt/missing windows font
