Now that I think about it... the "army boots" thing might have some quite unsavory connotations.

Anyway, I'm at the Mac now, so here's some of the Japanese I promised. In kanji, "nekokami" would be 猫神. However, if I hadn't studied my kanji, I might instead write ねこかみ, which is pronounced the same, but carries implications of being young or uneducated.

Yes, "Tu madre" can be enough to get you killed or at least roughed up considerably. I'm still alive only because it was an honest "Norte Americano" mistake due to ignorance, but a knife was pulled and I did apologize profusely (in English).

"ta mère" would probably be enough to get you beaten up, in the right circumstances. maybe not *killed*.

Nate and/or NatCh (still can't tell them apart) used the phrase "fundamental architecture" in the Feedbooks thread. Since we're looking at Greek and Latin word roots, I mentally translated this to "shape of one's ass". It made the post more interesting if not exactly sensical.

In german, there is a word for "tastes good".
But, there is no word for "smells good", or "feels good" or "looks good" or "sounds good".

i find that a bit sad. perhaps you should mozzle some. good sensations are such an important part of life.

then again, you do have "gezellig", so maybe that compensates somewhat.

BTW: Anybody knows a good translation of the german word "bähen"? It used to mean "heating up", a second meaning is "roasting of pieces of bread in a pan".
