The metadata problem is not unique to the Apple emulation. MobiPocket places the changes in a side file that accompanies the main file but Cybook does not use this data but instead opens the original file for this.

As does, I believe, every other version of the Mobi reader. Changes that you make to the metadata in the Mobi desktop reader are unique to that platform - the other versions all use the metadata in the original file.

Tompe's "mobi2mobi" tool can be used to easily view or edit the metadata in a Mobi book.
