new to kindle and forum

I'm Gerry and I was wondering if I buy a kindle here will it have internet access in Great Britain or should I wait and buy one there? I plan on getting a cell phone over there and hoped that I could use the kindle also to keep up with email and to look for lodging etc while there. Any help is appreciated.

I have looked around Kindle forum and couldn't find the answer so I tried here but it doesn't look like I'm going to get an answer to what I thought was a straight forward, simple question. Welcomes are nice but an answer was what I was looking for. Other forums I've joined were more helpful. Gerry

Thanks for trying desertgrandma but that web address doesn't work. As to the idea of calling Kindle CS I presume you mean customer service and I can't find any number. What this is telling me is that I'm not able to get any answers to what I thought were reasonable questions on this forum. I guess all these people are interested in is getting books on line for their Kindle. I thought this Kindle could be the answer to carrying a laptop over seas but I don't know. Gerry

won't work for you? It works for me. Just click on the "contact us" button on the right hand side of the page, and go from there. You'll get an answer to your question quickly

As for the people on this forum, most of what I've learned has come from them......and one thing I've learned is that if you can't find the answers here, in the proper forum, you need to call kindle (not Amazon) CS.

Have you tried posting your question on the kindle forum?

One more thing.........if I am understanding you correctly, and you are wanting to replace your laptop with a kindle overseas, not a good idea.

Internet access with a Kindle is clunky, slow, and doesn't have access to every site.

I"m not sure if the Fire (the new kindle tablet) has access overseas, again, the CS specialist would be able to answer that.

It's not that people here are unhelpful. It's simply that we like people to ask questions in the right place. This forum is for introducing yourself (and welcome to MR, by the way), but if you have a question about the Kindle, you need to ask that question in the Kindle forum, not here.
