OK, I'll skip sending anything and see if I can find something that's public domain that also won't load... The nice thing on my end is that I can always go back to 3.49.07 if I have to for books that won't load with the current version. So it's not a big deal 'cause I've got a workaround. Whatever's causing the problem, it's something that changed between 3.49.07 and 3.49.08 if that helps.

BUT, when it doesn't load, it hangs. No crash, just never responds. I have to use Astro or something that'll kill the application.

Such a great program!!! The latest update fixes the 2-page landscape problem. Once I get my Christmas bills paid off I'll make a donation for sure!

Thank you! I'll check the difference between these two labels.

Let me chime in here as well and say that CoolReader is, indeed, the app of choice on my rooted Nook Simple Touch. I was so happy when you began including several special features specific to the Nook; it really has taken the quality of the e-ink reading experience to a whole new level.

I am always checking what is in the latest update and have often wondered if there is a manual for CoolReader somewhere that I've missed. Additionally, is there somewhere where the CoolReader user might see a more detailed description of a featured item in an update?

For instance, in the latest update as of this writing (3.054-17), there is an item:

8. Custom toast for Nook Simple Touch (to optimize screen updates)

When I see items like this, I always want to find out more. Have I missed the location where I can do so?

Again, thanks for an amazing piece of software and hope you have a great holiday season.

Hello, I updated the coolreader yesterday, everything is working without problems but now he no longer recognizes the "~" and "ç". I'm from Brazil, and without them can not read almost any book. Could you help me? ( Sorry my english...) lol.

There was bug with font setting - random font was used instead of one selected in settings (in your case, this font doesn't contain some latin characters).
Workaround: select some other font in settings, then select previous one.

You can try to install new version. This problem should be fixed in it.

Some useful info can be found at Project WIKI

Regarding custom toast, it's fix to show message box optimized for minimal screen updates, instead of standard one.

Thanks for the reply as well as the explanation of the NST custom toast! I'll delve deeper into the Project Wiki, too.

bookmarks on multiple devices

Sorry if I probably misunderstood...i s it actually possible to save last position and bookmarks in the same directory where the book is located and then use them in another device (both Android)? I couldn't figure it out how to do it, but it would be awsome!!!

Which format are you reading?
If it's possible to move SD card from Hanlin to Andoid device, it's possible to modify CoolReader on both devices, to save last position and bookmarks to file on SD card, in the same directory where book is located.

I can add this feature if there is any library/API for dropbox on Android.

I have PayPal account, but unfortunately, PayPal doesn't allow send money to accounts registered in Russia.

It's not possible now. It's just a planned feature.

The one feature that I find missing on my Nook Color and Nook Touch is chapter progress. I have not been able to get the chapter ticks to show on either of my Nooks when reading epubs. In reading through this thread I find that other readers have had success by converting their book to FB2 format, which of course means giving up much of the font and formatting present in an epub. Are there any other workarounds, other formats that do work?

Hi all, just started reading here on the forums and just started looking at Cool Reader for the first time. I've used Aldiko and Mantano both with some sucess with calibre's opds on my own system, however I cannot seem to make Cool Reader display my calibre books at all. I have set the catalog at 192.168.x.x:8080/opds and all I get is a box that says "downloading HTTP:/calibre etc. for about 2 minutes and then it tells me that it has failed. I've tried rebooting and reloading and reinstalling the app etc but i always get the same thing... any ideas?

P.S. I would prefer not to use calibre2opds if at all possible.

192.168.x.x is local address. It's not available from Internet.
Possiblity of access to your catalog depends on your internet connection type.
Try running ipconfig from command line. Do you see any other address?
(press Win+R, type cmd<enter>, in opened console window, type ipconfig<enter>, look at result).
If you see another address, possible it's your public IP - try to specify it in OPDS catalog settings.
