Well I now have a PRS T1! I love it, I got the reader, the lighted cover & the charger all for 134.85! I updated to software to version 1.1.04.11230 and then let it synch all of my books. It took about an hour.

It's great to have a new reader. If you are on the fence about this jump off & get one!

Thanks lushgreenapple, you were right. I asked for a refund to the store that sells me the Sony reader (I bought it 25 days before the price drop!!) and they refund the difference (about $30) to my paypal account. If I would not read your post maybe I would loss $30!! Thanks again and happy holidays to all you that collaborate with the forum and spread your knowledge .

If anyone wants to save an additional $10 off a purchase of $50 or more, feel free to use this code (expires Jan 7) at sonystyle.ca

Assume it will only work once - first person gets it!

My PRS-505 broke the other day when my son used it as a prop to get up on my bed, and the screen cracked. I was pretty bummed about it as I've had it since 2007. I loved it. So I called the local Sony store and asked about repair options. They said I was better off trading it in for $50 off the T1. I traded it in and got the PRS-T1BC for $49! GREAT deal!

With the price drop and the new firmware, I finally bit the bullet and upgraded from a PRS-350 to the T1. I do miss the metal case, and am not fond of the shading behind the cover thumbnails on the display, but I'm very pleased to have a larger screen!

Is there a stable root package available yet to change the appearance of the home screen and whatnot? I did a search, but must not be very good at it, as the root packages that turned up weren't for the T1.

Just visit the Sony Developer's Forum on MR, and you will find the info you need.

mrspaceman has developed an alternate homescreen which looks interesting. See the thread here.

Yeah! I was pretty stoked about it. I haven't opened it up yet- it is under the Christmas tree and is my "Xmas" present from my wife. :-D

I've already made some tweaks to Calibre, and so far, I have 30 books on my reading list (using the Reading list plugin)

As soon as I open the present, it is going to be connected and synced with the reading list in Calibre! I may root- my Evo and my wiife's Evo3D are rooted so I'm very familiar with the rooting process and what benefits I gain from it, but, I don't see any apparent benefit to rooting the T1 yet as the customization options are limited. I'd do it in a heartbeat though, if it meant I could add a clock to the bottom like I did with the PRS-505. I don't see a way to do that yet.
