Ok Kindle owners.

I gotta ask.. on the left side of my kindle the Prev and Next page don't quite seem to line up... the Next page button seem slightly pressed.

Also, if you look at the left side the gap along it between the case and the buttons doesn't seem uniform. There is less space where to two button meet than at the ends.

Is this how all the Kindles look?

I think not -- and your problem sounds familiar. Ahh, see this thread:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18892

GeoElectric includes pictures of how much his is mis-aligned. Amazon replaced it for him.

It may depend on how far mis-aligned it is.

Mine looks a lot like Daffy4u's. Not completely perfect, but things pretty much line up, and nothing impedes any keypresses. Take a look at the other pics, in the other thread.

@Daffy4U: that's a good book, isn't it? I recognize the lead characters, though not WHICH book in the series it is.

Oh, well, yeah -- I can see the book title in your pic, too. Good stuff!

"An Ice Cold Grave". Good taste from one Deb to another (yeah, I'm a Deb or Debbie as well).

Mine is not perfectly aligned, but nowhere as bad as his. What's the standard warranty on these? Do they have an extended warranty?

There's been some chatter on the Amazon forums about the longer bars on the sides warping with use, especially if the user habitually pressed just the very bottom corner of the bar. It wasn't widespread, and it seemed to be people who had gotten some of the very first Kindles. Maybe it was a tooling issue, or a mold-quality issue or even a plastic quality issue. I haven't seen anyone talking about this recently (like in the last 3 months or so).

It comes with a 30 day money-back warranty, and a 1 year limited warranty.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it then. It works perfectly well. If it gets worse I will take them up on their warranty.

I've yet to read of them refusing or rejecting a warranty claim - and I'm pretty sure someone would be posting loud, long and IN ALL CAPS if they had.

But there is no excuse for this to be happening with the buttons since it seems to be an ongoing issue. Quality control needs to get off their ass and fix this for good.

This worked great. I was able to convert my LIT bought from fictionwise to mobi to read on my Kindle. Thanks for the info.
