The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks. i wasn't sure if i was going to enjoy it at first but by page 50 i was hooked.

Durzo Blint is probably one of my favorite character names of all time.

I loved Neverwhere, possibly moreso than I loved American Gods. However, I think Stardust and Coraline are my favourites from him so far.

Yes, it's very hard to choose just one favourite. Do you know his wonderful short story about the Holy Grail? That was the first bit of Gaiman I ever read and I was hooked!

Back to the topic:
I have finished Mantel's "A Change of Climate" and am now reading some of Dorothy Sayers' short stories to cheer me up after such a tragic story about a terrible loss and the consequences of secrets in families. I needed something a bit light-hearted and they are just right.

That said, I did quite enjoy his alt-Shakespearean Ruled Britannia, which I felt did a really good job of incorporating the characters personalities into affecting the changed-world of the story.

"Wetboy" is probably the silliest term for an assassin I've ever come across. And yes, I understand perfectly the derivation of the term. But sometimes, you just can't get past/over/around certain things. Wetboy was one of those things for me.

A shame, really, but there you have it.

They have different titles, but they appear to be the same books.

Just finished HEDY’S FOLLY: The Life and Breakthrough Inventions of Hedy Lamarr, the Most Beautiful Woman in the World by Richard Rhodes. This is the story of a fascinating woman who was more than just a pretty face. While her tale is a fascinating one, this telling of it seemed a bit dry for my tastes.

Since you read graphic novels, IIRC, you might like the version of her story in GT Labs' Dignifying Science: Stories About Women Scientists, which is pretty awesome. They've got an excerpt from the Rosalind Franklin (X-ray crystallography leading to discovery of DNA) comic right up at their website, too.

I'm reading Dragon Mountain by Preston & Child, just finished Relic and Reliquary by the same authors. Highly recommend their books.

Also highly recommend William Bernhardt, Wilbur Smith and James Lee Burke. I also enjoy James Rollins books.

I wonder if their being standalone instead of his usual trilogy+ makes a difference.

I'll have to try one of his standalone novels. I read all 11 of the Great War series, and really enjoyed them. This was the first Turtledove novel I've picked up in a few years.
