Einstein never won for his theories of relativity, but he did win, I believe, for his investigations into the quantum nature of light; and because of his promotion of world peace, I'm going to guess he won another for his pacifism.

I'm sort of disappointed that I did not get to make use of my next clue, about the theory that Vitamin C helps prevent colds.
Had to be sure my post above made it into the forum. Linus Pauling was the correct answer to the two prizes received alone in unrelated fields. The other two time winners were J. Bardeen (twice for physics;both shared) and F. Sanger (twice for chemistry; one solo and one shared).

For explanation of the photo-electric effect yes. His only Nobel prize.

So Issybird is up to provide another test of knowledge.

Oh, great! My last question was a thread killer.

Keeping to the topic of award winners but moving to the performing arts, two actresses have each won five Tonys for Broadway roles (not including special awards). Name one of them.

I've been a fan of Angela Lansbury since my crush on her in "The Court Jester!"

O.K., a new question:

What was the name of the man who invented the 'mechanical pencil?'
Hint (or not): it's the 'word' for a mechanical pencil in Japanese!

Bonus: who invented the desk stapler? (Same hint.)

Well I was at a loss so I Googled the mechanical pencil thereby disqualifying myself. Though what I found does suggest at least one problem with your quiz question:
Spoiler:

At least according to Wikipedia he mechanical pencil has two inventors.

OK... Let's abandon that question. No reason to give up the thread.

How about somebody else coming up with a good brain teaser?

I have one.

Most English nouns when turned into plurals either add 's', 'es', or 'ies'. Words that end in 'f' or 'fe' become 'ves' (e.g. knife becomes knives, and elf becomes elves, etc.). There are also a few exceptions like mouse becomes mice.

Can you name a noun that takes the following form --
noun becomes noun + letter + 'es'

and the letter cannot be the letter 'i'.

Nice question! I'm thinking....

It must be a common word, I think, as otherwise it would be regular in its plural.
