Cool Reader is the only one does use a full font family. See my First eInk reader used Cool Reader so I am very familiar with the program and how it works.
As to publisher's defaults, I'm still a little bit of a newbie to ebooks and ereading and I'm probably not using the correct terminology. I've always thought of "publisher's defaults" as what the text looks like on the Calibre (on my laptop), Mantano, Aldiko, Bluefire and Nook.

My epubs looks exactly the same on all those apps - even down to special and embedded fonts (I tested "Three men in a boat" on them). I know that cool reader reads a lot of the css but my epubs don't look the same on cool reader as those other apps. Are you saying there's a way for an epub to look the same on coolreader as those other apps?

I feel that Mantano currently offers the best customizations for library management and ebook annotation. Coolreader has the best customizations for comfortable reading for those who just read and don't care about annotations/library management etc and the text still looks good (I'm looking at you Moon+!). I'm slowly, slowly converting over exclusively to Mantano but it's hard to let go of the the customized title bar that shows me the time and battery% as well as the customizable tap zones that let me navigate so quickly without bringing up any menus. I have it set up where I can toggle screen orientation, toggle night/day and bring up the TOC with just a long press on a particular screen area.

I'm beginning to feel bad that I'm going so off topic and waxing about how great Coolreader is on Mantano's forum (I'm an early adopter and use Mantano most of the time, I swear!). I think I'm gonna stop here before I get banned or something...

...back to lurking.

Whaaaaaa! My collections are gone again.

This time from my NC CM7. It's been 2 weeks since I connected to my PC via USB so that can't be the reason. Between the time I last saw them and noticed them missing I charged the unit, downloaded an app from the market and downloaded a book via Calibre opds. Of my original 29 collections only 2 remain, the one that was open and one other, everything else is pfffft.

Haven't heard a peep from Mantano support since I logged a ticket on 11/26 for the same thing happening on my Transformer.

This is a bad bad bug that needs to be squashed.

I believe this is the subcollection bug that GregoryP mentioned in an earlier post? The Mantano people are trying to track it down. I would remove any subcollections and just use collections until it's fixed.

Cannot return to "My Books" after opening a book

Hello,

Started using Mantano Reader and like it a lot, but I have one big problem: after I open a book, there's no way to return to the "My Books" section and open another book. The only way to get there is to restart my device and start Mantano again.

I also had a look at assigning gestures to actions, but couldn't find any action, which could bring me to My Books. My device is a Prestigio Multipad tablet with Android 2.1. My version of Mantano Reader is 1.6.3.

I had the same problem, but a nice person on the forum pointed me in the right direction - hope this works on yours. When you press in the middle and the Mantano banner comes up on the top, press on the left side of the banner (looks like a < on mine) and you will go back to the "My Books" section.

Thanks a lot, that works. In my version it's the Mantano icon on the left of the green bar with the book title.

I have one more problem, though: Mantano hyphenates words in books, and it does so wrongly, so I'd like to turn it off. I had the same problem with FBReader, but there you can easily turn it off in View settings. I didn't find such option in Mantano.

The thing is, in my language (Czech) you cannot hyphenate a word anywhere you like. You have to keep syllables in a whole. The only proper way to do this in software is to load hyphenation patterns (a file with all the words with possible hyphen positions indicated).

Downloading from Calibre

Whenever I load books from calibre to my iPhone (Stanza), I just connect on my wifi and download them (is that the content server? Not sure exactly what all the different things--content server, opds, etc actually are!). With Mantano, I can see calibre and all the books I have on it, but can't download any of them (whenever I hit the download button, it just gets stuck in a loop and nothing happens).

I know this has been talked about before (and think I asked about it then!), but am i the only one having problems with this? Thanks for any help!

Working fine for me. What link are you using? It should be the http://ipaddress:8080/opds one. Another thing, is your library password protected? Last I checked, Mantano didn't work with password protected libraries.

The content server refers to the calibre server in general. The server provides different layouts/pages to cater for different devices. One of the pages is the OPDS-compliant catalog supported by most Android ebook reading apps such as Mantano.

Dos anybody know of the status of "two page in landscape" situation? Are the Mantano folks going to work on it or even consider it?

Yay! Just heard back from support this morning. The disappearing collections bug has been fixed and will be available in an update sometime next week.

Happy, happy, happy!!!!

Hi, I really like Mantano, but the biggest problems to me are

1. Cannot copy text from pdf file (the "copied" text are all clumped together without any punctuation and is totally useless)

2. Cannot freehand write on pdf (once you hit "draw", the display switches to a full screen show with small fonts and makes freehand draw such as underlining the text during reading impossible)

Could anyone help me and tell me whether there is any way to solve these issues?

Rg pt.2, I'm afraid that the annotation interface needs a major overhaul as I've mentioned beforehand, what Mantano can do maybe dictated by what RMSDK can offer...

Shameless plug: See http://mantano.zendesk.com/entries/2...tion-interface for my longer take... (you may register there, like it or comment along)

Cheers.

Newbie with long drawn out question, read as trying to sleep

Newbie to this forum and to this section. I just bought a Toshiba 32g tablet and need it for work. Most personnel are using Ipad or II. I am a windows person and refuse to buy any Apple product so I went the Android way just to be different. I ran across this program and installed for use with my Epublications, over 800 of them. Like how it works so far but I have already had the same problem as apesmom. With like 850 or so pubs and after getting them all in the program with sub categories out of the blue they were all gone! Mad, I reloaded and started all over trying to put them back into an order I needed. After a shutdown or two later, poof, they were back! Now I have 1900 of them and the 32g is almost full. Opps, start deleting but now I have to go by date added to figure out which is which.

Now the question. Instead of copying the files to the device I tried to import from my thumb drive as an easy way to keep the file structure in the same trees. Didnt work. This is important for me as we get new pubs every few weeks that include repeats of data that has not been changed. Because this data is in a windows file tree it imports fine but does not maintain the file tree. How can I set the file structure up so that when I import the new pubs it maintains a file structure and does not show up as multiple pubs of the same pub. Does this make sense? I guess what I am asking is how to import and maintain a set file structure so I do not have to resort files that are already set? Its not like I download a single book to read then put in a collection, I import hundreds already in a windows format that need to maintain a set flow. Some pubs are the same pub but in different form for different countries that cannot be known what the contents are until I open to see the version. If they stayed the way the file structure was I wouldnt have to reinvent the wheel every week or so.

Help me help myself. Lol.

The problem apesmom describes has only to do with the collections, not with the files themselves. I must admit, I've no idea how it keeps track of the collections (I know the meta data such as last read, and current page, is saved in a sqlite db, but I couldn't find the collections in there... But this could also be because my collections had all disappeared when I searched...)
