How has your reading in 2011 compared to 2010? - Page 4

Bought and read fewer books because they keep raising the prices and making them less available.

Bought a lot more comics because they are doing the exact opposite!

Although it is still a lot more than most people, I'd imagine, being in the triple figures with a lot of story mags etc.

I read about the same this year as last but spent less. I've been purchasing non-agency books, something I didn't do before.

I've read more and enjoyed it more, mainly because I'm taking more care over what I choose to read.

it probably tripled. i always read a lot but since i got my kindle literally a whole new world of stuff i wanted to read opened up. i've also been willing to take chances on different genres.

I used to read a lot untill a couple of years ago. For a couple of years I read absolutely nothing. Until this year, because I got my first ereader

I'll hit my target of 1 book a week (total 52 books) by end of the year. I've achieved this by filling in all my "spare" time - i.e. I read ebooks on my phone whenever I'm in a queue, waiting for people, etc & listening to audiobooks during my commute.

I've kept records:
in 2009 I read 76 books;
in 2010 I read 104 books;
in 2011 I've read 122 books so far, and expect to finish four or five more before the year is over.

However, it must be noted that this year I've read a lot of crime novels which tend to be short. My page count is only a couple of thousand pages more than in 2010.

I bought my smartphone early this year and quickly found out how much free time I wasted during bus rides. I've not achieved the 100 books mark for the challenge, but I've gone well beyond about 30 books, which is more than I've ever done in any single year, I guess.

I don't have an ereader just yet, and I haven't kept very good records, so I'm not the most reliable subject. I think it's been about the same, really, maybe a bit more this year. I've been very, very busy both years with university, but a personal loss this year made reading seem like the only decent alternative to living in the fridge for a few years. While this probably slowed my actual reading speed, I definitely spent more time reading. Things are looking up a bit now (finally) so I think my reading will only improve over the next year. Unless my dissertation gets in the way (which I'm sure it will!)

On the one hand, I've had less leisure time this year with a more intensive course-load.

On the other hand, I also have a longer public transit commute with more connections to make, which means I essentially have nothing to do but read on the Kindle (in a plastic baggie in the rain) while waiting for the bus most days.

I think it probably works out to roughly the same.

If the book you are looking for it not already on GoodReads, just add it yourself. I've added a number of books when the edition I was adding didn't exist. It's quite easy to do. Then I went to the Librarian Group and mentioned that it needed to be combined with the other editions.

Most of the time I add an existing book to my list, I have to go to the Librarian Group and ask for them to be fixed as most have errors. Since I read ePub, the page number is wrong. The cover sometimes is low quality or has rounded corners. Any errors I find I point out so they can be fixed.

I've read a bit less this year than last year; 87 books this year vs. 103 last year. I'm hoping to make it to at least 90 books this year, and I think I can do it.

I think I was busier this year than last--but I still read more. I'll have to do an exact count, but I can definitely say that as I put together my top reads for 2011, I'm having a hard time choosing (I usually chose one per genre). Last year? I didn't even bother. I had perhaps 3 books that were top reads and I didn't feel it was worth blogging about.

But this year I read a lot more and I might just have to have a huge list of GREAT books!
