ahhhh...gottcha, thanks...I never got into the game stuff though I did buy one of the early gen's Sega or Nintendo I have no idea...whoever had Sonic the Hedge Hog as a game. It was fun for a while then it got dusty then it moved to the "garrage" somewhere. But if they have things like crossword puzzle games I can splat out to the big screen...cool!!

Well, I got my DS because I wanted Brain Age. When I told my wife she thought it was silly and a waste of money. But, she got me one as a gift any way.

Well, we now have 4 in the family (of 5 people) and my wife has basically adopted mine.

We tend toward the more cerebral stuff like Brain Age, NYT Crosswords (as mentioned above), Big Brain Academy, Brain Age Flash Focus, other brain age and puzzel type titles. The coolest things is most of the games have a multi-user mode where you can play with/against other DS's using only a single copy of the game. The DS will transfer the game via built-in WiFi to the other players.

The DS is fun. I also enjoy doing crosswords using the BeCrossword program on my Palm TX.

Device: Sony Reader 505, soon to be Kindle user!
My wish list for my Kindle:

#1, wanted more than anything else I can think of (other than page turning by brainwave :-)
SOME SORT OF ABILITY TO ORGANIZE THE BOOKS INTO FOLDERS/COLLECTIONS!!
I switched from a sony ereader to the kindle, and there are only two things I occasionally miss from the ereader, the thin size of my 505, and the ability to create collections, that would stay in order, and allow me to easily remember which book is next in a series instead of having to create a whole other doccument (that has to be maintained and updated) and takes quite a bit of effort to view, then go to the correct book that is next in the series.
Even just the ability to create one folder, or ordered list called "what to read next" that I'd be able to organize and order, so I don't have to wonder while at work what book is next, or which series I was planning on starting next.
THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!
#2 would be related to the store, if you're going to have some of the books from a series, for christs sake carry them all!!
I can understand that they can't incorporate all books immediately, but as in for instance the harry dresden files series, why the heck would you have all the books available in Kindle except two right smack dab in the middle of the series?? I'm spoiled and don't like to read paper books anymore, so i'm not going to buy them on paper. At least give me some sort of t-minus 3 months till it's available or something...that danged little icon that says "are you the author? click here to learn how you can make this book a kindle edition!" mocks me left and right when it comes to quite a few series I read.
#3 would be related to the design of the kindle. It doesn't really bother me that it's ugly (i wear socks with my berkenstocks) but you have to admit, when presented with the kindle and the prs505, right next to one another, it's like the kindle is the chunkier, smarter, and more socially awkward younger sister. I'd really like to see her exit that awkward phase and start wearing makeup and using acne cream...ya know?
I'd like it to be thinner, a darker color, have the keyboard be much smaller, or disappeared all together (it's like a main focal point for people looking at it) and keep the page turning buttons the way that they are in that they are available to be pressed no matter where your hand is on the book (don't miss that about the ereader) but not so that there isn't a place to hold onto that isn't a button. I mean give me some sort of a lip or something to grab before I get to button land there on the edge.
Also, the case...it's not that the case is particularly horrible, but comparing the case from the 505, i'd love to have one that connects via a hinge of some sort...something more reliable than small plastic lip that comes un-connected whenever it is jostled and elastic. Please?

that's my wishlist, though if anything on my list made it onto the next iteration of the kindle i'd buy another one for that feature. You listening Amazon? I've purchased 4 already in my family, and would purchase 4 more, handing the old ones down to other friends and family members if you would fix one or more of the things i listed...i'm sure i'm not the only one.

I could swear I've seen a trick somewhere about setting the Kindle to automatically turn pages, sort of like a slide show- maybe its just my imagination. Anyway, cool idea.

Blog post of suggestions for Kindle 2.0 and 3.0

Some of the suggestions make me think "just get a small laptop".

I would like Amazon to come up with a mechanism for lending e-books -- e.g., my husband & I both have amazon accounts. Right now, we have 1 Kindle. If we got a second one, I see no reason that I should have to pay for duplicates of books he's purchased -- I don't have to pay to read regular books in our house, even if he bought them. I suggest there that there should be some way for him to remove the book from his kindle, put it in the archive & assign it to a different email account (either mine or a friend's) & then for some set period of time, I would have access to the book on my Kindle.

A second feature would be a light wedge to illuminate.

A third feature would be detachable solar chargers with magnets on them so the solar chargers could charge themselves while sitting atop my car during the day, & then I could use them to charge my electronic toys at night (obviously a desire not specific to the Kindle).

A USB connector that is common to other electronic items & not unique to the Kindle.

More textbooks for sale to replace having to lug really heavy books about.

International connectivity -- one reason I want a Kindle is for travel -- I understand that I can get books via my computer, so I don't have to have wireless connectivity, but I also have colleagues overseas who really want a Kindle.

Non-English language books

Text-to-speech in languages other than English

A waterproof case to protect from catastrophic coffee spills at Starbucks...

Micro USB will become a defacto standard for a ton of consumer electronic devices. The mobile phone industry is pushing it too.

Right now I can use my mobile phone car charger (micro usb) to charge my Kindle 2.

Can you not just register your Kindle to his account? Then you could share all your ebooks.

A lot of new netbooks will be coming out with touch and tablet capability soon. I would be interested in how thin they can make them in tablet form. With native Adobe Reader functionality and a small SSD drive, this would be a no brainer and make come out just as cheap as a Kindle 2. It would certainly have more capability after you are done using it as an eReader.

WOW!!! A lot of you seem to have lost site of the point that this is an E-READER!!! It is a way to read and store a lot of books!

I DON'T want it to recognize handwriting, do crosswords, scroll, light my way to the latrine, make my coffee or take me out Saturday night!!! That it has the ability to play music is astonishing to me.

Folders/Tabs/Categories something... this is very difficult to manage the books. Please Pay attention Amazon!

Sharing e-books. As reading afficianados I'm sure most of us shared many books in the pbook world or haunted 2nd hand book stores. Even within families the books sharing might be an issue. If I were in a relationship I'm not sure I would want to have all of his books coming to my Kindle and vice versa.

Wider availability. I'm getting tired of everyone ragging on us "Americans" yet again. Plus, like a lot of other people I travel a great deal and who knows if I have loaded enough books prior to taking a trip abroad. As far as getting to a computer, well often a vacation is partially being AWAY from a computer! Also I have a Navy SEAL son that I would love to give a Kindle to. Between not being able to share e-books and his constant deployments, I'm not sure if he would appreicate it or not.

I have the K1, so page turn buttons... I understand they are vastly improved on K2, but is it true that that they are only on one side?

Keyboard. I would love some sort of cover for it. I rarely use it, and it is the most logical place to hold the device.

The color. Yeah the light color could be darker.

Please DON'T make it touch screeen!!!! PLEASE!!!!
