Well two things that I really want (and I may work on it one day if nobody else does) is epub reader natively (aka not an alternative OS) and an app switcher. However, anything is possible if someone can code it.

If a hack could let the KT read ePub I might want one myself. I've been contenting myself with the KK because of the websurfing via 3G issue, but epub might be a big enough draw to persuade me to either switch or have two readers.

I just hope this means that eventually the Kindle Collection addons for Calibre will work with the Touch. :-)

For the most part people are calling it the Kindle Touch, Kindle Mini or K4, and the Kindle 3 or Keyboard. Not too many folks are looking at the firmware number. I was caught off guard when it was called the K5 because I don't have one and wouldn't think to check the firmware number. |

This just happens to be the first time that Amazon has had multiple current devices with different major firmware numbers. Previously, it didn't matter if you though the numbers referred to hardware generations or to firmware, you would have been right either way. Since there ARE in fact now several current platforms at the same time, trying to number them as JS Wolf said would be capricious at best and pointlessly arbitrary and confusing at worst. Since those platforms DO only run one major firmware version each, and there is no reason to think Amazon would suddenly change that practice, the firmware version is the best way to refer to them, especially for a hacking purposes.
