Argh dam search

I hate searching in Calibre, I don't have a head full of " and : and # or even use them on a regular basis.

I just want to list all my audio books, (custom column with a tick mark yes/no)

I know I can just click column heading, but I want to restrict it to that search, so knowing the term allows me to save the search for later.
(lookup name is "#audio")

This is me wasting ages trying to do a simple search for my audio books

audio
#audio
#audio="yes"
Arrrrggg - goes to make tea
"#audio="yes"
"#audio=""
gee sus
Audiobooks!
#audio=yes
"#audio=yes"
oh bolloxs
Make a post, and complain how lame the search is, and maybe someone will feel sorry and tell me what it is. - Then have a long discussion on the merits of such search terms, and my competence as a PC user

#audio:true
Make it a saved search with a friendly name like: Audiobooks

Typu in the name where it says Saved search in light letters and click the Green Plus

Thanks Ducks

Now with your help I have more of a clue on the other options I will want as saved searches
Done these - very useful
#audio:true #read:true - (all audiobooks I've read)
#read:true (All Books Read)
#read:false #audio:true (All audiobooks to read)
#readon:14/10/2011 (read on a certain date)

Not sure what goes here to use a date range - any chance you can hint
#readon:14/10/2011 to 01/12/2011

Note:
#audio:true Actually shows those audiobooks that have been marked with a red cross, as well as the ones with a tick
  • Tick show for true
  • Cross show for true
  • Unmarked - shows for false
I'm assuming that's expected misbehavior
There really should be only two options on a yes/no selector, having the cross be for "false" seems obvious to me, but I'm no programmer.

I know these answere are probably in some sticky/wicky but sometimes its hurts your brain to wade through that stuff, for a simple term.
Thanks again for your help theducks

Ah Tri-state field
not #audio:yes

I think this will work.
The online help User interface section has a section on searching dates
#readon:>=14/10/2011 and <=01/12/2011

Unless I have read the original post incorrectly, he wants audio books. That would be #audio:yes or #audio:checked.

This would be
Code:
#readon:>=14/10/2011 and #readon:<=01/12/2011
Be aware that calibre uses the current locale to try to work out which number is the month and which is the day.

Thanks you two, that helped me get my head around the terms.

Yes these were what I was missing
#audio:yes
#audio:no
For me a tick means its an Audiobook I have, a Cross means its one I don't have but want, and the un-selected means just not sorted yet. So knowing how to search for them is very useful.

And that date worked a charm, can do others now.
