Sony has posted the new firmware on its US site with a release date of 12/10/2011 here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/mod...3#/downloadTab

I downloaded the firmware and just installed it with no problems, at least none I've noticed.

Was this something that would just start at one point after a while of use? I haven't seen this (yet) myself.

It started again yesterday morning after a while of use. I read every day for 5 weeks now and never had that bug until I installed the new firmware.

Looks like I have a similar problem with the new firmware as Gustav Gans, although it has only happened twice in about 6 hours of reading. Liveable with, but would be nice if it was fixed. Much better than the page-flipping bug that was driving me up the walls.

Same bug has happened to me twice and I just had to hit the menu button a couple of time to get the word selection off the page.

And, like TAG_Keri says, I definitely will not miss that page flipping bug.

Well, I just spent over 90 minutes reading 200+ pages of a periodical. Previously I wouldn't have gotten further than about 20-30 minutes and 50 pages before a freeze. So, I'd say the firmware update is a success for me! I'm glad it was software and not a hardware fix. Now I can say the T1 is a fantastic reader and not have qualms about the firmware stability.

Hooray! We can all do a happy dance!

I've actually had this same bug since I bought my T1 back in October. It was usually followed by the page flipping problem so I thought it was part of the same issue. I've only just installed the new firmware so there hasn't been enough time for the bug to crop up.

I just got a similar 'word selection' bug as you guys - although it only happens on a single page (so far) of my ebook; pages before & after the page in question are fine.
So I wonder if it might be to do with some formatting on that particular page?

I turned autosync off. Actually I plugged in long enough to do Check Updates on the Reader for PC. Once it found the update and started downloading it the firmware update I closed Reader for PC and let it continue the download. I only synced once and hated it. Could be because I have more than one pc and they don't have the exact same things in either.

I wished the old Reader Library software worked on the T1. I didn't use sync there either but at least it wasn't as obnoxious as this new software is.

Pencil me in for the word selection bug. It happened after a few hours of reading. I got annoyed, just put the book down a few minutes when I came back it had stopped. It did it on several pages.

So you guys are saying that going to home stops it right away?

In my case it is only a single page that does it, going to any other page does not have any word(s) selected, but returning to that one page it does. (Using the touch-swipe to navigate, of course).
I've since read several more hours in that book with no re-occurrence of the issue. *shrugs*

I was unhappy when it went into sync mode, too, but it didn't delete anything, as far as I can tell. I didn't have anything synced before the update, either.

Can anyone confirm that the new firmware solves the freezing & page turning problems for the T1? I'm considering the T1 vs. the Nook STR for my Mom who lives in Vietnam. She doesn't know much about technology & computer so I really need a stable basic reader for her. I like the Nook except the fact that they only have 300MB for sideloaded books. I have always used Sony readers & have a preference for them.

Thanks
