I just finished a re-read of Dickens' A Christmas Carol (the MobileRead Book Club's December selection). It really is a great book. You find yourself looking forward to cherished passages as you read.

Actually, I enjoyed the Kathryn Dance series more. So far in the Bond novel, I've been able to foresee each of his 'surprises.' He builds up the suspense nicely but I can see what is going to happen before he gets to the end. It's just not Deaver!

I started "the girl with the dragon tattoo" but somehow stopped after 150 pages but meanwhile I got the ebook on my iPad which makes it a lot easier to read anytime. Not sure to start again or get the "hunger games"? Recommendations?

Agree with Mr Wolf, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a bit slow to get into but it does pick up, and definitely worth perservering. Personally slogging through Devices and Desires by P D James. Not a book to skim, the language and words are beautiful but not very condusive to a bumpy bus ride and flitting concentration. Last edited by captkjaneway; 12-08-2011 at 08:51 PM. |

I read the first fifty pages or so of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and couldn't get into it. I ended up returning it to the library after a couple days.

But I also saw the movie and couldn't do it in a single sitting. I believe it took me three days to make it through the whole movie. I want so bad to get as excited about the Millenium trilogy as everyone I know but I don't think these stories are for me. |

Firsthand account of a 9 year old boy who spent 10 years in a North Korean gulag with his family. Brutal story so far. Incredibly sad but he manages to persevere and I'm really excited to see how the book ends. |
