I just e-mailed best buy to see what they would do. I bought my mom's for 169 and received it Nov 21st. Now Sony dropped here to 139 this morning.

Just got on the phone. Sony has a 30 days price protection. So, they will credit me. The final price I paid is $89 with the education discount!

I will say this. The 350,650, and 950 never dropped in price like this. I think the ereader/tablet boom this xmas as well as the bug issues have really dropped its price. The 350 refurbs still go no lower than $70. New $129. The 650 and 950 are more. Just goes to show that newer models arent always better.

These price drops make me wonder how the new firmware testing is going. Especially after the delay from the anticipated late November release.

The T1 has great features. Hope they get things sorted out for the many reporting problems.

I think you're being a bit previous if you are where your avatar suggests you are - anyway, shouldn't you be idling in the sun ?

Please don't compare with Apple. Apple is one of its kind, it can sell products at 40+% profit margin, and people are still lining up to snap up anything on the shelf. For the rest of the world, they have to compete on price.

That's why Kindle is sold at a loss (that's negative profit margin); and Amazon has the advantage of earning your money back from its proprietary format ebooks and other products.

If you notice, they've taken off ereaders from their home page which is really strange.
Not really, it is right there, complete with the $99 price.

Not sure how you make such conclusion.
PRS-T1 is designed to compete on price with its new plastic chassis. And newer design usually features fewer chips and lower manufacturing cost.

In addition, it has to compete with the $79 ad supported Kindle.

does anyone know what this means for the canadian price? sonystyle.ca has it listed for $139, and bestbuy/futureshop still show it as $149 (including a $20 price drop that's been advertised for a while now). i just picked up my t1 on cyber-monday, but this sounds like a better deal. wish i could pick one up in the states at such a wicked price..

@nindustrial

How much did you pay for your device on Cyber monday???

I'm just about to purchase mine from Sony.ca for $114 with this coupon code:
SONYLOYALTY This is additional $25 off from sonystyle.ca price. I found this code from some website and they said this code expired on Sept 30 but I just tried it and it worked. (See my attachment)

Considering Nook simple touch and Kindle touch are not avaliable for sale in Canada yet, I don't think Sony will drop T1's price to $99 anytime soon for Canada. I'm thinking this is the best price we can do for now.

for those of you interested in ordering one now, the sonystyle.ca website still accepts the coupon code of 'SONYLOYALTY' for $25 off any purchase of $100 or more - so you'd get i for $139-$25 = $114+tax (not that bad!)

lol Sega - i just posted the same info.. The CyberMonday price at futureshop was only 10% off their original price of $149 (so basically $15 off). the sonystyle deal with the SONYLOYALTY coupon works out to just under $130 so a better deal..

if Sony Canada drops it further from $139, we get 30 days price protection, as someone else mentioned on this forum..

Oh sweet. Yeah I will keep my eyes open for further price drop!

Btw, I'm just about to make a purchase online but it looks like I have to wait 7 days to receive my T1 from Sony.ca. Maybe I will go for a drive to Buffalo with my gf. Just take care of all our christmas shopping while I'm there.

I can probably save some serious cash this way.

It looks like the $50 trade in is still valid too! Too bad my Onyx Boox isn't listed as one of the models you can trade.
