I'm at a wedding (don't ask me how I got talked into attending a wedding, which should only ever be attended by blood relatives, IMO), and I'm annoyed. I'm looking around the room. The minister/pastor/priest/whatever clears his throat, and quavers, "Wuv...".

I lock eyes with the only other person in the room who is, like me, frantically trying to lock eyes with anyone else who sees the humor in this, who is on the other side of the auditorium, a woman in her mid-50s, and we both simultaneously let out a loud "HA!". I stifle myself, but this poor dear had to stand up and rush out. I loved her immediately. |

I learned about TLAs from some folks at NASA (one of the worst offenders). TLAs, of course, are Three Letter Acronyms. The very best one I ran across there was CSD. It stands for "Catastrophic Self Disassembly"... also known as "it blew up."

Who knows. I certainly don't care to try to analyze my "issue", that might RUIN it. I enjoy the company of women. Attractive women are a joy to behold. The woman in my anecdote above was about 15 years my senior and not physically attractive (to me). But she had a beautiful voice, a fruity laugh, and her eyes sparkled with joie de vivre. She salvaged an otherwise miserable day. She became a friend.

Call me shallow, I guess, or sexist if you must, but I have no shame about noticing pretty women and sharing their company. I also have an affinity for old men, too. If I notice an old man, or better yet, two or more, at a table in a restaurant, I will try to sit near them or even ask if I can sit with them. Why? Because 1) they have more to talk about and a much wider perspective on issues and 2) they generally also like pretty women, and get away with flirting with them. There is nothing desperate about my attentions, either. For the most part, women I notice, who notice I notice, seem to pick up immediately that, yes, I'm "checking them out", but I'm not being obvious or rude about it and not going to stalk them back to their car, so they acknowledge me with a smile and go back to their business. This is an evil world but it does have beauty. I choose to indulge in what I find beautiful. Last edited by Taylor514ce; 05-20-2008 at 07:16 PM. |
