Up early this morning, trying to finish off an article for work. Peet's Major Dickasons coffee.

Got the article finished (YEAH!), and took time to have some breakfast and a glass of fresh squeezed OJ. Now going to have a cup of Lion Mountain Keemun.

No, not yet

When I watch films I usually drink tea to suppress the hunger. On a rare occasion I might drink a bit (1 - 1.5 shot) of whisky
5-10 years ago I used to eat sunflower/pumpkin seeds, different nuts, apples and oranges. Could be worse...biscuits.
However, as with everything else, I am a perfectionist. Stupid trait. It makes my life so complicated. I have defined a set of rules and try to follow them since then. From my personal experience, I know that it is better to follow my rules than give up and later berate myself for being weak. It is better to be a good boy, because I don't forgive myself easily, if ever.
About one year ago I forbade myself having snacks after dinner. Dinner ideally would be finished by 18.30-19.00. Ah, and no deserts after dinner.
So far, I have managed, more or less. Sometimes it is difficult. Sometimes, it is very difficult. Then I make another cuppa or put on running shoes and off I ....

That is what I am planning to do now. Running that is. Didn't run since before my mother died. The last time was 17th November. Lazy bastard Flying to Israel, catching a cold...excuses excuses excuses...sloth. Sloth is my faithful shadow.

Love is a rose but you better not pick it
Only grows when it's on the vine
Handful of thorns and you'll know you've missed it
Lose your love when you say the word mine

I wanna see what's never been seen
I wanna live that age-old dream
Come on boy let's go together
Let's take the best right now

Good morning, each and every! Happy Tuesday. It's a steaming mug of Yorkshire tea in front of me, along side warm rye bread with blueberry jam on top. Not my usual breakfast but my wife bought the jam and rye bread was all that was in the house.

We are SOOOO different, you and I!
My rule (and there is only one,) is; As long as it feels good and doesn't hurt anyone else, do it!Somehow, life goes on.
I don't want to be lying on my death bed and realize I forgot to thoroughly enjoy life.

Let me tell you about the time my then 9 month old discovered grapes. (We hadn't had any in the house in years, but the boycott was off, they looked good, so we bought several pounds.) And my son started eating them, showing every sign of being willing to continue until he exploded, so long as we'd keep feeding them to him. Talk about speeding up digestion...

Now here, I'm definitely with you, Stitchawl. I remember we were planning our trip to East Africa, and my wife asked me "So, should we do the balloon ride in the Masai mara? They want [some ridiculous amount of $$] for it." My answer? "We're spending 50 times that much to make this trip to Africa, and we may never be able to do it again. Do you want to look back on it and think about missing the experience? Or look back and remember coasting over the Serengeti, watching the antelope and zebra scattering from the lion out on the lookout for her breakfast?"
(Needless to say, we bought the ride. And it was definitely worth it. )

Having lived and worked in a very touristy area in northern Thailand, I often ran into people having just that same discussion. Oddly enough, I found that it was the 'discount travelers,' or backpack travelers, those who opted to stay in the $3 a night guest houses, who actually participated in FAR MORE expensive activities than the people who were staying at the Hilton, Sheraton, etc., 3-4 star hotels. The better the hotel, it seemed, the more the people were reluctant to spend money on the rest of their experience in Thailand! And yet, inside these fancy hotels the experience was just about the same as found in New York, Paris, London, or Hong Kong! Step inside and you need to look at a postcard to tell you what country you are in!

I don't go traveling to save money. I can do that at home. I want to experience every facet of the new culture I'm visiting, no matter the cost, no matter the danger, no matter the comforts.

"Some wish to live within the sound of a chapel bell; I wish to run a rescue
mission within a yard of hell."

That is very much our travel experience. When we went to Australia and New Zealand we did what we wanted to do with minimal concern about money. We knew we were not likely to go back and so enjoyed where we were when we were there.

Skim Milk to go with a veggie quessadilla and chocolate chip cookies.

And for the record, I am dreading months 8-10 already. The more I read about labor the more I think a C Section is the way to go. (shudders) Overall I am enjoying being pregnant. I am excited to have a baby growing in me and excited/scared for the challenges that are going to come these next 21 years.

And yet those chapters on labor scare the crap out of me. (winks)

thank you for letting me vent. It is helping my husband a great deal.

I like the way Robert Frost said it (in 'The Road Not Taken')
... And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Quote:

10! Is this some new method I've never heard about?

Fuggedaboudit... You have kept yourself in good shape physically before you became pregnant. You are keeping yourself in good shape during your pregnancy, as well as taking perfect care of the baby now. Just go to your Natural Birth classes regularly, do the exercises you are given with your husband, and you may just have the easiest birth on record! Besides, one or two other women before you have managed to give birth without a C-section (excluding MacDuff's mom.)

'Plus' marks for attitude, 'Minus' marks if you think it stops at 21 years!

Another mug of Keemun and then I'm off to do my chores!
