![]() What did surprise me, was that I had this bottle for so long and didn't drink it. I think I have to re-read wise words Quote:
I think that wine continues to change even after it has been bottled and if it kept properly, such as position and temperature? Whisky, I think, changes only as long as it is in the cask. Maybe it absorbs more of cask's ingredients? There is another factor that contributes to the high price. Alcohol %. The higher %, the more expensive it is, regardless of its age. Something to do with the taxation. Quote:
I remember I googled about it. We bought 3 different types. Tried them. Read about their energy values and you know what? Popcorn is far from harmless calorieswise. About 400-450kcal/100gr Consuming 50gr of this stuff is pretty much easy and 200kcal is a significant number if for example you don't want to consume any food after you had lunch, i.e. a couple of hours before you retire to bedroom. It would be a self-deception to believe otherwise. Tell me that I am wrong. Please ![]() Cuppa #2 Yorkshire Gold Tea. |

![]() Two things... First, 50g of popped corn would equal 6 CUPS! That about 2 1/2 movie theater servings! Few people eat that much at a single serving. Here is the information I have for HOT AIR popcorn. (Oil popped corn is about three times the numbers below, and closer to your figures for eating two servings at a time.) Nutrition Facts - from THIS site Serving Size - 3 cups (24.0 g) Amount Per Serving Calories - 93 Total Fat - 1.1g Saturated Fat - 0.1g Polyunsaturated Fat - 0.5g Monounsaturated Fat - 0.3g Cholesterol - 0mg Sodium - 2mg Total Carbohydrates - 18.7g Dietary Fiber - 3.5g Sugars - 0.2g Protein - 3.1g See more extended nutritional details I've looked at several different sites and the number are about the same +/- 5-10 calories. At 90 calories for three cups of popcorn, which is about what I consume while watching a movie, is about the same as eating a Florida orange. I've included the main site I use so you can double check my figures. Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 12-05-2011 at 07:09 AM. |

93kcal/24gr is very close to the first number I mentioned 400-450kcal/100gr
![]() I don't know about cinemas, but at home I know that consuming 1/4 or 1/3 of the 100gr pack is easy Easy to get carried away when you watch a film.100+ kcal Nice that it has fiber. Thanks for the website. Interesting. |

Of course, a single serving of Cheerios is about 140 calories... without the milk. That would bring the calorie count up to almost 300. OJ would only bring it up to about 200, but reduce the calcium intake and Vitamin D and K. But... I don't think 'all' calories are necessarily bad. Only the 'wasted' ones, such as sweets, simple carbs, sodas, etc. The calories from an evening of popcorn aren't so bad. I'm going to have my 'wasted calories' right now! 200 calories of Bombay Sapphire! A single shot is about 100, and while I don't measure, I figure I pour at least a double. Do you count the calories in your Single Malt? ![]() Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 12-05-2011 at 09:17 AM. |

Many calories are good for you. I eat Multi Grain Cheerios, 110 calories a serving and I have two servings (yes I measured what was in my bowl). But it actually has three grains listed as the first three ingredients and then two other grains in the top 10. It also has all the vitamins found in my Prenatal Vitamin and it gets me a serving of skim milk. So those are good calories.
I would say fruits and veggies are good calories. My chicken nuggets and fries for lunch today are bad calories but I am allowed the occassional bad calorie. Plus I have decided to get the kiddie meal so I will have a small fry and fewer nuggets to go with the spicy chicken salad (good calories). They key is balance and that can be hard to find. I am not going to kick myself for the occassional serving (ok daily) of potato chips or french fries and a chocolate chip cookie or two. If that is all I eat, then bad on me. But I have at least two pieces of fruit a day plus my OJ. I have a salad at least five times a week. I grilled up a bunch of chicken to put on my salads so that I can add lean proteins to the salad and help fill me up better. I am getting in 4-5 servings of calcium a day (milk and yogurt, also good for protein). So I might go ahead and get the small single serving bags of nukeable popcorn because I like my popcorn hot and I don't think making air popcorn at work is going to go over well. If I have one bag of popcorn every few days that won't kill me. The hard part is saying no to the tea (I miss my milk oolong) and not going to Five Guys for burgers every week (once a month is fine, for now). But I struggled with the food cravings before I am pregnant. Now I have an even better reason to try and be good. Growing a human being from scratch takes a lot of good fuel for me to stay healthy and for the baby to be healthier when it is born. But I still love my french fries. |

LARGE cup of Café con leche. Took way too long of a nap yesterday as a result of having inventory at my workplace Saturday and following that with a long night of wedding planning, so I was wiped out Saturday and got up way too early Sunday. Anyway, the long nap yesterday prevented me from getting to bed at a normal time last night, and I am suffering now because of it. Ah well, 4 hours down already

Speeding up digestion is not a bad thing. Pregnancy releases hormones that slow down digestion which leads to gas, heartburn, and other fun.
I should have read more before I got pregnant... |
