Make it sit in my closet

Mine won't arrive until tomorrow; but I must say, UPS sure is fast. Mine left LA on 11-28 and arrived in Portland 2-1/2 days later. Such speed

Many people are happy with the slightly harder TPU case like this one:

This is the one that we apparently want:

I like the look of that one, but I don't think it's being sold in the U.S.

If you search for A500 TPU at eBay, there are quite a few results—most from the same few sellers there. But I don't know if the fit is snug.

My A100 arrived today. It's a keeper. Prime Videos stream beautifully. Have to watch the viewing angles though, because it doesn't have IPS. Otherwise, the screen's gorgeous. Need to decide on a case now.

How exciting! Do you stream the Prime videos through the browser, or is there some better way to do that? I don't have Amazon Prime right now, but I'll probably try it for a month and see if I like it.

The viewing angle issue is one of the few criticisms I've read about the A100. I don't think that would be a big problem for me, though.

I just sent you a PM about that.

Could you please let us know about the battery life. I am interested to know about battery life for wi-fi web browsing.

Lots of voodoo out about shrinking silicone cases, I think the only answer is to just buy a TPU case.

If you find a TPU case that fits the A500 like a glove, please let us know!

It's on my list for this weekend, for now the tape is working but it looks ugly and everyone asks me why I have tape all over it. What bugs me about the TPU cases is that they barely go over the top edges of the tablet, I think I would rather have it run almost to the display area.

Me too! I'd like the TPU case to cover the silver strips on the top and bottom, and I haven't seen one that does.

I may drop to my backup plan and mask off all the important areas and spray the back with Plasti Dip. Alternate to this is buy a Zagg screen protector and back skin, toss the protector and just keep the skin. I haven't found anywhere that I can buy just the skin for the pack.

I have an opportunity to buy a new and sealed Acer Iconia a100 from someone on Craigslist this Wednesday. I would appreciate any info about the battery life and any other issues that you may think is important.

It was $189 last week so you shouldn't be paying more than that plus tax. Can't tell you much more since I have the a500, but other than the display they are pretty much the same inside. I think it was mentioned that the a100 does have GPS and doesn't have a full size USB connector. If it performs as well as my a500 and you don't expect too much from it, I think you will enjoy it. The only thing that will be lesser between the a100 and a500 will be full screen PDF reading, turn the a100 on it's side and set the page options correctly and scrolling through should be fine.

Thanks Greg for the helpful info. Where did you see it for $189?

The 8GB Acer Iconia A100 was in Best Buy's Black Friday ad for $189. I was able to purchase it at that price on Best Buy's website the day before (on Thanksgiving Day). The price is currently $249.99 at Best Buy, but I think it's on backorder now.
