If you are only a casual reader it's like 99 cents an issue (http://www.pressreader.com/android.html). However, I do enjoy the condensed US Newspaper versions just as much. Last edited by obsessed2; 11-29-2011 at 07:21 PM. |

Dropbox apk needed...
i swear i did search first... looking for how to get dropbox on my fire since its been mentioned at least 5 times in tthe past 24 hours. its not in the app store, navigating to the official developer website via silk, dolphin he and opera mobile all result in the android app link taking you to the fire app store. arrrrgh!
I'm on a Mac and having trouble getting es file explorer to access my share drives/folders. I'm not a noob to networking etc just inexplicably stumped that connecting to my Mac i get 3 printer shares. but no file hierarchy. having a dbox app would greatly simplify things for me. ! Ps i already use desktop versions of dropbox for both Mac and Pc. Last edited by Merischino; 11-29-2011 at 10:14 PM. Reason: add ps |

Merischino, over on the Kobo Vox forums jefftheworld put together a couple of app collections for downloading. The "regular apps" download contains the dropbox for Android app. I've used it and it is the legitimate apk and works. You can find the thread here.

I downloaded dropbox from dropbox.com and then sideloaded it, just as Blossom suggested. Now I read/annotate pdf's on my Fire using RepliGo then save them to Dropbox and can easily access them on various PCs.
Quick plug for RepliGo... So far, it has worked without a hitch. Highlighting and adding notes is a breeze and they transfer over nicely to desktop versions of Acrobat. Well worth the 4 or 5 bucks I paid for it considering I am going to use it regularly. And it's even available in the Amazon market so I didn't have to track down the .apk somewhere else. |

Business Calendar or other calendar apps...
Blossom - this one might be for you. I think you referenced getting Business Calendar in a prior post. I am looking for a calendar app that will sync with Google Calendar. I'm currently using the world's last standalone PDA (an HP iPAQ 210) and it has a great calendar application - but it actually syncs very poorly with Outlook and not at all with Google Calendar. Windows Mobile was a great operating system in some ways, but surprisingly poor for syncing calendars - you'd think that since Microsoft designed Outlook, they could've made it work more consistently with PDAs.
I digress... Anyone who has an opinion about Calendar apps, feel free to chime in... |

MoboPlayer 1.2.176
A good alternate video player is MoboPlayer 1.2.176. It plays a lot of different formats including Quicktime. It uses the FFmpeg decoder so you don't have to convert your video files for most formats. You can download from the Moboplayer website.
If you move your finger vertically on the left side of the screen it adjusts the backlighting and if you move your finger vertically on the right side of the screen it adjusts the volume. Pretty cool features. It is Free. Last edited by jswinden; 11-30-2011 at 01:15 PM. |

Oops, sorry, I didn't realize they merely linked to the Android Market. I actually got it for my phone via the Android Market then backed it up into an apk file and installed it on my Fire. I later found their website and assumed the link was a direct download.

Good RSS reader? I got EasyRSS right now. Not sure how I like it. Google Reader is my RSS reader of choice, but for some reason I always try to find an app. But the Google Reader interface is always the best interface. Lol. Ugh, 1st world problems.
