PS. Maggie is slow, but fine this morning. Enjoyed the beach, but not physically as active as normal.
A fantastic film. Some great lines too -- "Play it again Sam." and "We'll always have Paris."

Technically, that's "play it, Sam". There was no "again" in there. Though the quote is famous as having the "again" in it.

Actually the line "Play it again Sam" was never in Casablanca. The actual lines were:

Quote:
"Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake." When he feigns ignorance, she responds, "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By.' " Later that night, alone with Sam, Rick says, "You played it for her and you can play it for me." and "If she can stand it, I can! Play it!"

But two rights is usually followed by a left cross.

Which brings us back to cross dressing, for some reason.

I have a great piece of software called "Crossdresser" that can convert 3d models of clothing for one figure to another figure. Needless to say, the discussion boards for this software are full of images of men in skimpy dresses.

But are they men in skimpy dresses wearing monkey masks?

I've been trying to find a good monkey mask. So far I'm seeing monkeys in skimpy dresses, but no men in skimpy dresses wearing monkey masks.

~sigh~ Don't worry, nekokami. It's just another example of the kind of narrowminded discrimination I've had to deal with all my life.

Oh, and by the way, my apologies for not responding sooner. We had a guest invading my territory and personal space all weekend, but I've chased them off this morning. I should say, and should have said earlier, thank-you for your concern about Maggie (and epic thanks for associating her with Ingrid Bergman - she'll be mighty chuffed about that). She is, after keeping us awake all night worrying about her, quite fine now, and all "Gees, what's up with all the attention?! Can't a girl get a little privacy?!".

By the way, Deb, it was her "sibling" you have seen previously. That was Oscar, the fellow Fool:

Also, here's the late Monty, who was my "heartdog" and the greatest dog that ever lived:

How great is this? Making people look at photos of my "children". Brilliant!

Cheers,
Marc

Well, I'm working on making a monkey mask (more specifically, a "monkey king" Beijing Opera mask, like the one in your current avatar), and then I can try to remedy this problem

Though for your avatar project, I'd been considering this "unusual specimen":

Edit: with a beanie cap, of course. And probably a monkey king mask. Skimpy dress may be a bit hard to arrange, with all those limbs, but I'll see what I can do.

Edit 2: you wanted a live squirrel dangling from the mouth, though, right? Should it stick out from under the monkey mask, or sort of be attached to the front of the monkey mask?

Seafood noodle soup recipe:
(From Basic Flavorings: Ginger by Clare Gordon-Smith)

For a light ginger flavor, peel the fresh gingerroot, grate it, and infuse in the stock. For a stronger flavor, infuse the peel as well. Galangal or krachai could be used instead of the ginger to give a subtly different flavor.

1 inch fresh gingerroot, peeled and sliced
2 cups chicken stock
3 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 tablespoon Thai fish sauce
2 teaspoons brown sugar or palm sugar
1/2 stalk lemongrass, lightly crushed
14 oz. trout fillets
8 uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
6 oz crabmeat (optional)
1 sheet Chinese rice noodles

To Serve
3 scallions, sliced diagonally
sprigs of cilantro

Serves 4

Peel and slice the ginger, reserving the peel if preferred. Pour the stock into a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, lemongrass, sliced ginger, and peel (optional), and simmer gently for 10 to 20 minutes to develop the flavors. Strain into a bowl then return to the rinsed pan. Bring to just below boiling point, add the fish and seafood, then simmer for 8 minutes more, or until the fish is just cooked, and the shrimp turn pink. Break the trout fillets into large pieces, add the noodles, return to a boil, then serve in small Chinese-style bowls, sprinkled with sliced scallions and sprigs of cilantro.

Feh. Now I'm hungry.

(nekokami, the above image is hidden behind their memberwall, so I/we can't actually see it (I've put some spaces in the code above, just so's you can see the link).

It would be wildly presumptuous of me to impinge my own thoughts and suggestions on your creativity, and so I concede to your own decisions on what to include, or not to include, in your creation. Beanie or no; squirrel or no; monkey mask or no...no matter what, my jiminies are jumpin in my jellybelly. I am and will be deliriously happy.

Oh, my! That sounds magic. Some nice fresh banana prawns and some fresh salmon or tuna steaks will be nice too (maybe some udon noodles too?).

Sheesh, I haven't made it yet, and I'm already bastardising it. Maybe I should stick to the recipe first (though perhaps some fresh scallops, quickly and lightly pre-fried and added at the end...).

Cheers,
Marc (who may have to add this to "laksa" on his Favourite "Soups" list)
