You almost have to laugh at how inept Sony is at selling ereaders nowadays. Who else would raise the price of their ereaders the day before black Friday. Some sale...

I was looking hard at the T1, but I couldn't bring myself to purchase one with the obvious firmware problems that plague the device right now. Instead, I stopped off at Target and picked-up a Nook STR for 1/2 the price of a T1. It has limitations, but I think it will work fine for what I need.

Perhaps when Sony is closing out the T1 in the summer I'll look at one again.

On sale in Canada for 149.99 It's in the new Best Buy Flyer which is valid starting Nov. 25.

Even Shoppers Drug Mart has it on sale for 149.88 Nov. 26 and 27. It's on the front page of that flyer.

Dell.ca Use coupon code L07TXSDW2NRR0H to receive an additional $15 off to bring the before-tax total for the bundle to CA$145.

That coupon may expire today, November 25th, 2011.

Dell.ca only ships within Canada and I don't see the bundle available at Dell.com.

My local Sony store had the T1 on sale so I simply went in and got a price adjustment.

Unbelievable. When I last checked, the $159 offer was stated to be valid until Dec 4. Pretty sure I have a screen dump of this.) Just went back on Dell, and it's up to $179. That's 4 times it's changed price from $159 to $179 and back again.

FWIW, now they have the bare reader listed at $149.

Sleazy move, Dell.

UPDATE:

Dell wouldn't budge. They just lost a customer. HOWEVER, someone on RedFlagDeals posted a .pdf "loyalty coupon" for $25.

The Sony bricks & mortar stores have dropped the price to $149. I called the Sony.ca store number on their website, and they told me they haven't gotten around to updating the site just yet, but they will not only honour the $149, but also apply the $25 loyalty coupon. Free shipping too. WooHoo!

Here's the link to the coupon:
